first look for your ethernet cord, and follow it til you find a box, good you found the router, now go back to your computer write a very long post about it, then before you hit the Post reply button, hit alt + F4 and boom you found your router

What if they are using wireless? You simply can't just follow the cord. You need one of these to tap into the wireless frequencies so you locate the router.

Depending on whether you are using Windows or Linux type "ipconfig" or "ifconfig" find your gateway and congratulations you have now found the ip of your router.
Open a web browser and type the ip in the address bar and log into your router.

Since you don't know this already though I would say that you most likely wont know the login details or your router is unsecured.
