How to make .ini editing app?

First off thank you to all that have helped us noobs, it is much appreciated. I have searched the forums before posting this and found no such program. What I am looking for is a program that can be used to change the hairstyle/texture inside the ini file without actually opening it and changing the numbers manually.

I have one that does this for the Tideborn hairstyles, but it does not include the Earthguard and several other fashion head fashion. I know how to edit the ini manually, but would like some way for it to be more user friendly for members of my server.

I have thought about just adding additional ini presets, however this would not be practical for an already created character that just wants new hairstyles.

Side note, I have absolutely no programing experience unless you consider a month of vb training at ITT Tech enough to work. Any help on this would be great, anything I can assist with in making such an app I would be willing to do. Thanks

For earthguard hairstyles u need only copy + paste from 1.4.4 elements.data (or seledit's join) and current facedata and surfaces.

You forgot to say that it's needed to change the class mask also for every earthguard hairstyle Otherwise the new hairstyle will not be available for the other classes.

Well I already did that on my server. But what I want is this tool that edit *.ini files from character preset when you save the appareance...

Actually if you use the 343 release as I do you just need to edit the elements.data for client/server in the Faces & Head sections, Section 58 & 61 respectively. I say edit as I don't know what if any differences between 343's elements.data and the one downloadable from micropanther's post http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/earth...d-fash-712164/. I have done just that and you can edit the ini to work with any class as long as you do not attempt to change the texture after applying it to a character.

And thx for the app. But hmm yea the IDs are coded inside the program... Thats sucks that we can't add new one without messing the app itself.

I cant look at the program now cause im not at my computer but cant you just cange the ids with a hex editor?

And av3, this is a really really noob question and perhaps I shouldnt be asking before doing more research on it and modifing the config files for seledit.... But what the hell, I wasnt aware that 1.4.4 elements data could be opened?

why not just enable the head fashion and texture on the character selection menu.
i did this over a year ago and people are still editing .ini files

Its all in the elements.data

I dont spoon feed.
Compare the elements.data hair and texture from head fashion with the normal ones, you will notice 1 small but important difference.

OK well spoon feeding isn't what I asked for, that would be "Give me your files". I simply asked how it could be done to add them to the character creation screen, a tutorial on how this is done would suffice, but I will continue to do things on my own thanks.

It's incredibly trivial... I even figured it out after looking at the hairs list in elements.data... (After spending hours looking the many .pck's because I originally had no idea where to look only to realize it was right in front of me)

Seriously dude you dont need someone to explain how to do it, just find the hair list (i forget which one it is) and its pretty dam self explanitory.....
