Looking for a working guide to install PW on a Linux server.

    Hi,

Before you start shouting at me for not using search, we are in desperate need of someone who can either:

    • Link me to a working guide
    • Help with the setting up of the server

Please PM me or reply to this topic.

    Thanks for your time,

    Atticus

    Check list:

    1. Do you have a Debian or Ubuntu server already installed? (this is the most familiar distro of Linux...)

    2. Does your server hardware is a x64 server? and is it an AMD cpu type?

Re: Looking for a working guide to install PW on a Linux server.

We have the facilities to install either of those Linux versions. Which ever is easier to implement.

    Here are our server stats:

    • RAM: 1024 MB (Upgradable)
    • HDD: 40GB (Upgradable)
    • CPU: AMD Opertron 2.3GHz (Upgradable)

I hope this is enough (:

you will need at least 8+ GB of ram to run all instances simultaneously...

(at least that is my recommendation)

    1GB can run Main World+Demon World+Celestial World...

Like as said 343, you need about 6GB or 8GB to open all instances on your server...

ram is so cheap now-a-days there is no reason not to slap 8+ GB in a unit that you plan on using as a dedicated server... ... ... Figuring you're already going through the hassle of building / leasing / renting one... ... ...

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...447&CatId=3413 (8GB ~ 249.98 usd)

...and I would figure anyone going through the lengths to set up a dedicated server are aiming for a rather decently large size of user base,,, and you know you will not attract a very big user base if all you have open is world map, or world map and a few instances... For something like this certainly calls for all instances to be running ;)

We run our server off multiple machines.
    E8400 @ 3GHz dual core, 1tara HDD, 16g DDR2, 16mb connection.
We host multiple different private servers.
Aion, PW, WoW, Dekeron, Flyff, Warcraft3 Bots, Counter Strike Source 30 person accounts, and we run smoothly and never have any complaints of lag.

All our system are an ubuntu jaunty build and you can find out how to build a working pw server from this thread.

As I said, everything is upgradable, we just need advise on setting it up successfully.

Re: Looking for a working guide to install PW on a Linux server.

    sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/2048Mb.swap bs=1M count=2048
    sudo mkswap /mnt/2048Mb.swap
    sudo swapon /mnt/2048Mb.swap
    /mnt/2048Mb.swap none swap sw 0 0

    21 maps = 2GB ram + all up so i agree
