    Making skills all class

Basically I'm looking into trying to make an all class pet heal/revive, and wonder if anyone has done this or where I would need to look.

make a jsp that gives the skills to anyone.. that's my only idea on this..
Or maybe add them to player templates so they are added on char creation.

    Try doing it manually.

Manually will work with any skill on any class, there is just no way to make them learnable with a book or smth, as the gs will go nuts when you try.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure manually is the only way to do it.

If you are good enough, you could probably make a script that when activated by the player, checks if they have xxxbook in their inventory then if they do, removes it and adds the skills

    Re: Making skills all class

what about 'cloning' them in ELEMENTS ?
I wonder if that would work. In elements there are lists for NPC trainers and which skills are for which classes. Maybe that would work too ???

If it was only in elements.data then we could have new skills wich is not the case.

    Re: Making skills all class

    You're missing the point....

I am not talking about making new skills BIG difference here.. I am talking about cloning the skills that we have so that a different class can learn them... Look in your elements and maybe you'll figure out what I am talking about... IDK that it would work, I just recommended it as a possibility... My myself; I will keep it exactly the way it was designed...

But if you could say clone the cleric trainer to also 'work' for training a blademaster (in elements) then yes, it MAY work...

However, like I said; I have no desire to do this so I wont even try -- it is worth a try though (imho), for someone who wants a method other than doing it manually...

One may even be able to do it w/o cloning anything... Maybe just add the skill (or skill book #, whatever it is) to the trainer for the class you want to also be able to learn the skill... ??? maybe...

When I glanced at the NPCs for 'skill training' it appeared to have plenty of room on their lists

    Re: Making skills all class

Yeah and I think there is a list of skills to, if you find xxx skill in it, I am not entirely sure cause I don't have seledit with me but I think it MIGHT have a class req (I could be wrong, just trying to remember off the top of my head) and if you put 255 for the class req then do as 343 says and add it to the skill trainer for xxx class, it may work...

Or it may not and I might be spouting complete crap :D

    Damn

Wonder if it would work if you just created an entirely new NPC to handle it =\

    Re: Making skills all class

    Aw that's a shame it doesn't work.

Guess manually is the best method...
I still think my idea of a script that adds it to the character skill hex and consumes the item required is a cool idea if you are good enough to make it xD

Not good with scripts, so I guess I'm stuck. But thank you all for the input.

    Re: Making skills all class

I had an idea for this, what about making them spawn with it? Give them revive, heal, and capture pet on character create (edit template).

I personally added that as a donation option, like, you donate for either a nix or herc and then I add skills to their XML.

You need a edited egg though, change 0800 in the egg to ff00.

Good luck with whatever you do.

    Re: Making skills all class

If you make them spawn with it how do they level the skills? You will have to give them either 1, 10 or somewhere in between.

Also with the pet eggs there should be a field in elements somewhere that allows you to change the pet egg to all class. There are eggs for all class pets and mounts so it must be there. I just don't know which field yet. This will save time hexing the egg.

    Re: Making skills all class

Yeah, but since its donation I just plug in a modified egg to send.

And OFC I give them lvl 10. xD

    Re: Making skills all class

you can give any class a skill just gotta remember all skills are based on a 255 but finding that point bases on the class you can have the skill but no gfx learn that point your good, but why give another class other skills

    Re: Making skills all class

Adding skills of a class to another one is ridiculous in my opinion... But well everyone is free to do what they want on their server even screw their players...

Really hoping/assuming the screwing part was not aimed at me.
