Making Weapons have 4 Sockets

I am trying to balance soul gems, and make them better, but it is very difficult to do when a piece of armor can have 4 soulgems but a weapon can only have 2.
I want weapons to be able to drop and craft with 4 sockets, and I have no idea how to do this. This would make my soulgem balance much easier.
I tried to play with the config edit in the sELedit, but I just can't get it to work. In fact, I am not sure what the config edit is good for, since whenever I change a config, I can’t load the elements file with my new config.

I have played some private servers where weapons can craft with 4 sockets, so I know it’s possible, I just wanna know how.

That is a great program, and great guide (both included in my 'DEV' release as well)... They should help you with what you want to do ;)

These programs and guides are great, but they aren’t quite what I want. Is there any way to mod the game, to allow weapons to drop or be crafted with 4 sockets?

That's not possible...

Only editing XML of the character you can change the weapon slots to 4.

Yeah you can only do it by editing the hex of the weapon

No, he's using script that is inserting xml code into character sheet (message in mailbox with an item).
