    Mob skills not working

    I've been working on my new mobs and so far got 6 fully working with just one problem, the magical ones are not using their magical skills even though I changed them to ones lower then 870. They still come up to me and attack physically but no skills at all.

    I thought maybe it had something to do with line 12 in the mob list, all previous mobs seemed to have a number 1 above the amount of skills but changing it above 1 just caused the mob to stand there.

    I've spent the last 3 hours going through google and ragezone and no luck on this matter. The skills I'm using are ones that are already used ingame such as poison and thunder and I only applied them to the wood and metal mob respectively.

    Anyone got clues as what to do next?

    I think a spliff and a good ponder is needed.

    set line 12 to 3 for magic mobs

    most used single target skills with short description: (remember that if u see for example 200, write 20 in elements data and so on...)

    Did u set
    unsigned int short_range_mode;
    and
    float attack_range;
    to the proper valuse?!

    I've already been using this file and I did have 3 on line 12, in fact I've been trying numbers 0 - 3. On 0 and 1 they attack normally (physically) and on 2 and 3 they just stand there and do nothing.

    The mobs I am using are original mobs from PWi, I imported them in sELedit and the only thing I changed on them was the type to stop the map crashing, location of the ecm, line 12 and the skills they use, found in skillstr.txt within configs.pck

    @[D@ante] No I am not sure which fields they are, nor did I realise they needed to be changed. Do you know which lines they are?

    Looking at seledit, would it be lines 90, 93 - 96 and 99 - 102 ?

    Sorry for double posting but I didn't want to spam this section with help threads, I'm still having trouble with my mobs, getting them to use skills.

    I also have another problem, I've put in some water mobs and changed them so in npcgen so they are free 3D and it is also set as a water mob in seledit, I don't mean element, I mean line 57. This should have worked and although the mob does attack at close range (very close) at long range he sits there and does nothing and his HP regens, also the mobs just sit in a formation and do not move and all face the same direction, even though in npcgen, no direction was assigned.

    Line 6 was left alone with the default value
    Line 12 has been set to 0 so they only attack physically
    Line 53 and 54 have been left blank
    Line 57 was left on 1

    same with water mobs... just clone it. It's IMPOSSIBLE that it won't work

    Problem is I already imported the 400+ mobs I wanted and was kinda hoping to learn how to fix it, cloning it doesn't help me learn how to fix it and although it is a good way to sort the problem out I really want to know how to do it myself.

    Mostly because I believe it will help me with other things I've yet to do/learn. I'll keep testing and crashing my server untill I find a way to fix it

    I fixed it!!

    I changed line 57 to 2, line 58 to 0, then changed line 59 to 0 and I do normal damage to the mobs underwater and when attack they swim over and attack. sweet as a nut mate

    Edit: ok I didn't quite fix it, the damage reduces to 50% if you move after logging in haha

    After alot of editing and testing I still haven't managed to find a solution to this problem, I've even tried avalanches way of copying a water mob and replacing the gfx and still no luck. Thing is though the mobs work normally when in air mode but the moment I set them to water mode they freeze, only other thing I can think of is maybe the water itself is bugged? O.o Somehow, I've been through the mob list many times now, comparing it to many other mobs of similar size and locations (underwater). Theoretically it should be working, I've learnt alot the last two days about mobs and from what I see, there is no reason in the mob settings why it wouldn't be working, it should work but it doesn't so I'm thinking there must be something else causing this issue.

    Do the water areas within the game have their own settings or is all the water controlled as one big mass?

    On the bright side I think I found out how to get skills working although I am yet to test it, will update once I do.

    I fixed the mobs to use skills

    Changed line 12 to 3
    Changed line 49 to 26 (26 being the first skill in the mob skill list)
    Changed line 50 to 10 (The level of the skill)
    Changed line 90 to 0.2
    Changed line 93 to 0.2
    Changed line 94 to 41
    Changed line 95 to 1
    Changed line 96 to 0.2
    Changed line 97 to 42
    Changed line 98 to 1
    Changed line 99 to 0.2
    Changed line 100 to 43
    Changed line 101 to 1
    Changed line 102 to 0.2

    And of course the first skill ID has 26, just list other skills you want after. Now back to figuring out my water mob problem O.o
