MSSQL and REG page error

hi now myself along with many other people have had issues with the registration page for pwservers.
i have searched online as well as through out these forums and i have not be able to obtain a clear and working solution. when i start up the server/registration page in colinux i try to register an account...which is followed by :

Warning: mssql_connect() [function.mssql-connect]: Unable to connect to server: TDS in /opt/lampp/htdocs/register/processor.php on line 26

Warning: mssql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MS SQL-Link resource in /opt/lampp/htdocs/register/processor.php on line 27
Connection failed! Check your core.php

now this happens with every server i have tried from the 1.2.6 to the 1.3.6 and 1.3.6/9 repacks. i can see that this means the server isnt connecting to MSSQL but to my knowledge i have applied all the correct user names/passwords to the config files and am now clueless....

PLEASE guys can you help as many people other than me also face this issue :P
