whatever the case is, my faction are broke and I need help fixing them. >.<
I even created a faction, raised it to level 3 and here's what I noticed...
1. the faction window is empty except for the name of the faction. All other fields are blank.
2. Bidding on land gives the error message "Not enough funds raised" it does no matter what land I bid on or the amount of the bid I put in.
3. When I log out then back in, ALL information from the faction window is now gone and there is no faction name over my head.
please, someone has to know how to fix this :(:
I really have no clue. However, it does sound strikingly similar to a problem I think Supra had. You may wanna ask him since I have no clue what ever came out of that issue... OFC do not PM him though, most ppl do not respond to PMs for help. I guess hopefully he reads and responds to this thread :wink:

Best of luck, as I have never been able to successfully restore a backup. I always end of with uniquenamed & gamedbd services offline. But on the upside it does show the accounts there lol. Wish I could help.
IDK about uniquenamed but the reason you're not getting successful backups is because of clsconfig... I can pretty safely say...
Here is my method for making/restoring back ups (not including MySQL because that is effing self explanatory!):
-BACKUP ALL files from /PWServer/gamedbd/dbhomewdb/dbdata
-REMOVE CLSCONFIG (from the backup)
now to restore:
-START THE SERVER FOR THE FIRST TIME (yes, this will create an entirely new & empty DB)
-COPY YOUR BACKUP (WITH *NO* CLSCONFIG) to the proper directory (/PWServer/gamedbd/dbhomewdb/dbdata)
Presto, you've completed a back-up :D:

grr it's starting to sound like my solution is to backup, delete those folders, fire up the server, shut down the server, copy the backup back in, (minus the clsconfigs), fire it back up again and I'm good to go?
Or am I just hosed now because the db's are hosed and I have to start fresh?

Tried it, didn't work. Had one person saw names in their faction list for a minute or two and that was it. =( I really don't want everyone to lose their progress, but I don't see any other way than to refresh the entire install.

Get adminer or phpmyadmin, back up the chars to a sql file, re-do server, import the sql file?
Also make sure you have all the old elements.data etc
Now we can't make new characters, Client disconnects when you try to log into a character you made, it says, "could not log in to server", then "error retrieving character information for this account", then disconnected from server, please log in again".

ok bringing up a second system to run from there and try to fix things. Later I'll get around to building up that other PC so I can run some real stuff. I'll play with Server 11.04 too
