Yea and honestly, I don't think he'd be happy to hear that CERTAIN people from HERE have been mentioning HIS TOOLS on the OFFICIAL PWi forums...

Thats like asking for ban on the Servers xD.

Now the more serious part: It doesn't put Ronny in any kind of danger. The laws in Germany allows you to modify anything you have on your computer, as long as you don't spread the result against the original authors will. So in fact, providing modification tools is pretty legal, too and PWE can do nothing about it.

So in the end there is nothing to be worried about for him.

Yeah, and also, he can't get in trouble for the tools themselves either as he wrote them himself, they are his own work.

However, whilst it doesn't put him in any danger, his tools are made for editing PWI files at the end of the day and are made for private servers. Posting about them on the PWI forums just seems.... wrong in some way. I cant really explain what I mean very well, but I think the discussion of them should stay away from the PWI forums. Besides, its just common sense, don't post about something that could get you banned.

Also quoting 343 on the PWI forum without his permission is not good.

Well I didn't think he'd be in any 'danger' or have any 'legal worries' over the programs he has written, since as you brought up, they are programs that HE has written. Though I would presume there's always technically a certain level of 'danger' for anyone who actually 'runs' a private server...

No, my primary concern was that it's dumb and rude to all parties involved. Granted I'm sure PWE knows that private PW servers exist that doesn't make it any less rude (or dumb) to talk about them on THEIR forums (insert my wife screwing analogy here), likewise it's not any less rude to US that you talk OUR business on THEIR forums... If we would have wanted it said there, we would have said it there ourselves =\

That discussion on the pwi forums only happened because some idiot thinks he's all high and mighty now that he just started his private server and he isn't afraid of getting banned anymore.

I'll admit that convo did get a bit too far out of hand, however, it's because of pwe's greed that players simply don't care anymore...

At the very least I convinced the idiot to remove the link to ragezone, that was really stretching it more than anything. :thumbdown:

Btw, I fixed my server.txt a bit, apparently I went a little too crazy with the tabs.
I also added in the four new servers.
Expansion is available for all servers now.

I don't really care 'who started it', what matters is that everyone is 'mature' enough to ignore it. Those types of things should not be referenced external to this site, that is why this site exists...

Also you may have convinced the original offender to remove the link to RZ, which in case you didn't know only really 'publicly' removes it... Like any forum (especially one powered by vBulletin like PWi's forum) the mods or admins can still go back and look at those edits. Hell even if you delete the posts now, it's just deleting them 'to the public' the mods/admins can still go in and read it all - as it was originally written. So at this point in time ~~ it's just too late. Except maybe deleting all 'culprit' posts would be a good idea so at least people may not 'point it out' or BRING it to the attention of mods/admins...

I am also going to check to see if there are any rules currently in place in regard to this matter, and if there aren't - I AM going to create one!

For future reference (to everyone)

If you DO see some DUMB ASS talking about OUR business on the official PWi forums, PM them to have them remove links etc... Don't *#&%^@* talk about this shit 'in public' !!!
