PW Client Question

Before I start trying to customize the element files, I was wonder if anyone had some pointers on a few things.

1) Where can I get a basic client download?
2) How can you tell which element data file versions that is being used.
3) whats the best editing programs to use for gshop and elements.
4) Has anyone done the Tideborn characters? If so, how can I get a hold of that.
5) how do you upgrade the server side.
6) Does anyone have a handy manual on how, what, where to change in the client and server.

I know, dumb questions, but I was hoping that someone else had this same questions that would be willing to share information.
