    pwAdmin Installation

First, I have the server up and running. PHPMYADMIN is working fine. I can even register users, except it show some error thing, but i can live with that for now.

So, so now I am trying to get Either Iweb or pwAdmin to work. I can't seem to find Iweb install instructions and I tried to follow the pwAdmin instructions with now luck. I down loaded the pwAdmin file and installed per instructions, but apparently i got wrong instructions.

Can anyone assist with more detailed instructions on either of these?

    Thank you.

    Re: pwAdmin Installation

    install pwAdmin,
make sure you have installed java jdk! or JRE atleast

    1. make sure that you have set evironment variable for java!

    2. set permission to pwAdmin folder 0755

    3. inside pwAdmin folder set permission to pwadminconf.jsp and pwconf.conf to 0644

    4. add pwAdmin folder to /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/webapps

    5. start jakarta

    6. type in address bar 127.0.0.1:8080/pwAdmin

the paths i stated here may not be the paths you have so correct them as needed.

you can also use your lan ip in the address bar.

you must spell pwAdmin with the capital A as i have.

if Iweb isn't working then most likely you need to define your java environment variable.
    edit bashrc
    /home/root/bash.bashrc

    add this at the bottom

export JAVA_HOME= path to your java

to find where java is located
    type this in terminal
    which java
    if java exists in /usr/bin/java
then you would export like this

    export JAVA_HOME=/usr/
all you need to do is point it to where the bin folder is located and it will find it from there.

if you have all this done correctly there should be no problems.

    Re: pwAdmin Installation

Will I tried pwAdmin and failed.

    which java
    /usr/bin/java
    java -version
    java version "1.6.0_15"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.1-b02, mixed mode, sharing)
    /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/bin# ./startup.sh
    Using CATALINA_BASE: /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9
    Using CATALINA_HOME: /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9
    Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/temp
    Using JRE_HOME: /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_05

When I try 192.168.1.5:8080/pwAdmin, nothing comes up except like a broken link.

make sure that you have set evironment variable for java! (I am not sure to check this or what file it might be in)

    thanks

Do you mean that it only works with those versions? If so, what do I need to do to change it?

    Read here
    http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/pwadm...elease-643911/

    and here
    http://forum.ragezone.com/f452/fixin...n-iweb-655109/

You can use jdk1.5.0_05 as well. As for installation you put the jdk1.5.0_XX into your /usr/java folder. Then you edit your .profile and .bashrc to reflect your new java version. You also edit your tomcat_start.sh and tomcat_stop.sh scripts. Read the second thread for which parts of the files you need to change!

For pwAdmin you download the lastest version from in the first thread and then you delete your old pwAdmin in /root/apache-tomcat-X.X.X/webapps/ (I made a back-up of mine so if I had problems I could revert). Copy the new pwAdmin across and edit the .pwconf.conf inside the folder and change the ips to your server ip. Then edit the .pwadminconf.jsp and change the database to "dbo" and change the password encoded in md5 if needed. Next delete the contents your /root/apache-tomcat-X.X.X/work/ folder. Reboot your server and if all went well your new version of pwAdmin should be working with xml editing.

    Re: pwAdmin Installation

I am rebuilding the server completely and starting over fresh. I had done so many changes, I may have messed something up. I am doing a fresh install of Romulan PW Server files and starting from there and making changes slowly so I can document each change. That way, if I have a problem after the change, I can go back and fix it.

Thanks for your help and I will let you know.

Question: I am using Jakarta-Tomcat that is in Romulans server pak. Does it make a difference? Also, shouldn't I be able to at least show a index page dor Tomcat if it is running correctly?

Jakarta tomcat and apache tomcat are both tomcat and are pretty much the same as far as Im aware. And yes you should be able to get an index page if tomcat is running correctly. The index page will show when you goto http://YourSeverIP/ and will contain a register and cubi page and maybe others.

" The index page will show when you goto http://YourSeverIP/ " <- this is the page from Apache server - i think the default page for tomcat is at ip:8080

Apache is tomcat so they are they same. Port 8080 is used for pwAdmin while the index uses port 80. They still use the same webserver just different ports

    Re: pwAdmin Installation

This is what I have done so far.

    1) Rebuilt server.
    2) Installed Romulan PWServer file and changed all ip addresses 127.0.0.1 to MyIpAddress.
    3) Tested phpMyAdmin to make sure it works.
    4) Test Register page to make sure it adds users to db file.

Everything seems to be working except I get this error when starting the pwserver.

    STARTING IWEB SERVER MANAGERMENT
Neither the JAVA_HOME nor the JRE_HOME enviroment variable is defined.

Now when I run which java nothing shows up and java -version is telling me its not installed.

    so freaking confusing

any suggestions on this? I didn't get this before when I installed Romulan's pak.

Ima check to make sure I have the permissions right.
