Regarding elements and gshop

I have read through nearly every thread on this site as well as used Google to search for every tidbit of info regarding elements.data and gshop.data and thus far have found very little. Documentation on editing, versions of these files, etc is very lacking. One question concerning these files (as well as their supporting files, i.e. surfaces.pck, et al) has never really been specifically answered yet... that question being:

Will any clients' version of elements/gshop work if copied to the server?

I hope there is someone knowledgable in PW server development on this forum who can answer this question clearly so it can be a reference/guide for the rest of us. If such can be done then I will proceed with editing gshop from the latest MY-EN client as it is currently v1.4.0 build 2265 (as is PWI client).

You can't copy the elements.data of the client to the server... because the elements.data is not the same for client side and for server side... but the gshop.data is different ^^

Example: You have MY-EN 1.3.9 Client and you want your 1.3.6 Server have the stuff of your client...
It's not possible to simply transfert the elements.data of your client to the server because it's only a "board" with all informations of the items and others... it's doesn't have the models, surfaces, ...

You can't have all models, surfaces in a small file of 19Mb xD You must find how to edit the servers files and find a working elements.data FOR THE SERVER ! ^^ Not copy from the client...

It appears the latest available server files are 1.3.6... though it seems everyone uses the 10301 setting in the /home/glinkd/gamesys.conf file. As the current client versions of MY-EN and PWI are 1.4.0 build 2265, is it possible to add items from these to your existing gshop.data? Will you have to change other server files such as surfaces.pck, etc?

Once I get a fully working server (as bug free as possible) with an updated gshop I will post my work so others can test the server... I'm new at setting up a PW server but know my way around linux (been using it since about 1990) and have learned alot and it don't take long setting up anymore =))

I expect my first release around April 1st (or sooner).

I'm uploading a PW136 on ubuntu 804 server Vmware image as we speak ^^ has a working Gshop and corrected (tekks) element.data included..

only annoying points are..

iweb doesnt work :(
shutdown.sh doesnt work right either

other than that, the MySQL DB works great as well as the registration..

should be upped within 2 hours

yeah. me too wonderin how to upgrade server's elements and gshop files..any guide how to upgrade server's elements and gshop file to match clients elements 1.4.0?
