[request] Need a Private server guide

I'm looking for a guide on how to set up a private server on linux, I don't want to use colinux or run it on my home computer in any way, I have my own rented server that runs linux that I can use, can anyone guide me on how to do this or point me in the right direction on how to do it.

Just use the files out of the colinux or vmware releases. My thread used to have the contents, but the links broken now.
