    skills

    so i been messing around with the skills and have a question

    if
    490100000000000002000000 = revive pet
    4a0100000000000002000000 = heal pet
    a70000000000000001000000 = town portal
    2b0100000000000001000000 = Venomous Scarab
    i can give any toon these skills, and they work

    my question is, how does
    2b0100000000000001000000
    translate into Venomous Scarab

    anyone?

    Re: skills

    It can be broken up into three sections.

    Code:
    2b0100000000000001000000
    2b010000 - Skill ID
    00000000 - The amount for crafting skills, eg 200/200
    01000000 - The level of the skill
    To get the skill ID you find the skill in skillstr.txt in configs.pck. If you find venomous scarab in there it will look something like this.
    Code:
    2990  "Venomous Scarab"
    2991  "^ffffffVenomous Scarab  (Level %d)

    ^ffcb4aRange ^96f5ff%.1f^ffffff ^ffcb4ameters
    ^ffcb4aMana ^96f5ff%.1f^ffffff
    ^ffcb4aChannel ^ffffff1.5 ^ffcb4aseconds
    ^ffcb4aCast ^ffffff1.0 ^ffcb4aseconds
    ^ffcb4aCooldown ^ffffff1.0 ^ffcb4aseconds
    ^ffcb4aWeapon ^ffffffUnarmed, Magic Instruments
    The 0/1 on the ID is just for the name/description and is not part of the ID. So the ID for venomous scarab would be 299. If you run 299 through a converter like sPCalc or pwgen1 or w/e you will get 2b010000 which is what you see on your character.

    More info can been found here.

    Note Sage and Demon skills have a separate ID and are not level 11 of the skills. The level on them is 10 by default I believe but something like summer sprint that normally has a max level of 3 might differ. It shouldn't break anything setting it as 10 though.

    Re: skills

    ok thanks for the reading, this makes me wounder, i took a skill, revive pet, copied the hex at lvl 2, and at lvl 10, the code was exactly the same, what controls the lvl of the skill?

    Re: skills

    Well then you need to repeat your test because the hex should not be exactly the same. I said in my post that the level of the skill is the section on the end. I'm guessing you didn't reload the character xml properly.

    Re: skills

    No. Character skills aren't in elements.data, just the skill books are. So the IDs are different. There are weapon addons in both however. I haven't managed to figure out how they relate to each other yet though.

    Not directly there would be a bunch of stuff in between. If you look at the list in elements in there isn't really anything useful there. You would be better looking in tasks (if its in there) to find out what happens when you learn a skill at a trainer. It does seem a bit of a long way just to get ID's though when there is a file that already lists them all.

    By all means do look into it though. You never know what you might stumble across.

    Re: skills

    o.o how can you not know how to open them? Even if you search pck files you should find out exactly whats needed.

    Anyway since I'm nice you can either use
    sPCK - pwTools
    If you downloaded the sELedit from here then you already have it. There is also a post by me somewhere with batch files for easy use or you could find sPCK-GUI or something. Its pretty simple to use anyway.

    pwrepack - This is another tool that can extract pck files.

    pwpack2008 - This is a really old tool that we used to use.

    Personally I would (and have) find a copy of all 3 and keep them as backups. That way you can choose which one to use and if one doesn't work then you have others that might.
