Suddenly my client won't log in to my server! Help!

Everything was working fine but now my I can't get pass the Char select screen. When I select my character after login in it gives me an error and says "Can not log in to server." When I click confirm the next message says "Disconnected from server, please log in again."

The only thing I have changed is the exp rates, but after this error started I put it back to the original values because I thought that was the cause of the problem but now I'm thinking it's not related at all.

I either changed something I shouldn't have or I didn't change something that needed to be changed, but I can't figure out which one it is!

How can I access the logs that will tell me what the error is?

Well... hmmm... If I remember I left me char at the entrance to Etherblade or in that city. Is that no part of the world map? What else could be causing the problem?

It does the same if I try to create a new character too.

I checked all your suggestions. According to pwAdmin gs01 is loaded every time I try to login. There must be something else I'm missing. Any ideas?

Characters > Click your character > Change world id to 1, and coordinates to x:0 y:200 z:0

well i believe its the client files not matching the server files, if you change anything on the client you have to convert the client .data file that you edited, and add it to the server. always keep backups and i hope this helps. if it doesn't work ill private message you and we can get this problem fixed.

Thanks for the help softsoldier. I was reviewing the guide by hrace009 and saw that I should replace the element.data files for the server and the client. I'm not sure this is the cause of the problem, but I'm unclear about where the element.data file should go for the server. Should it go in PWI/element/userdata/server or should it go somewhere else? How do you get the .data file to the server? These are probably noob questions, but since I'm a noob those are the only questions I know how to ask.

Use filezilla or winscp to upload the files to the pwserver.

its no problem. what you want to do is use ronnies editors, like Sedit stuff, open your element.data and export to 1.3.6 or what ever client you opened it with "1.3.6 most likely" and export the elements.data to another folder. then use Winscp to FTP the file to your server under PWServer/Gamed/config/ folder. remember to backup any .data files you edit. i personally rar my files quick and easy and ftp them over.

OK I found the problem although it's a little embarrassing. By looking at the log file for gs01 I found an error that said there was a problem reading the "hp" for "SWORDMASTER". I edited the ptemplate.conf file a while ago and apparently I deleted a line without realizing it. I copied the original file back to the server using WinSPC and the problem was fixed. Everything is running as it should, for now anyway. Thanks to all who helped!
