    shout Swap file on colinux

    I post my problem with more explaination...
    I have a server, and this is all program that i use to install it:
    1. MSSQL 2000 and update to SP4
    2. XAMPP-WIN32-1.6.4
    3. Colinux 0.7.3 with Fedora
    4. PWserver
    5. PWclient
    I don't know is it related or not with my problem.

    My problem is I couldn't save my game progress i got This Failed
    Attachment 73184
    Attachment 73185
    When i type df -kh in colinux, i got this:
    4.jpg
    I realize that my server is out of space,....

    After i post it several days ago, kristkos told me that my error is swap file in my colinux...
    Thanks to kristkos, he give me this Steps:

    ((( "Credit to: apachez

    If colinux starts; shutdown

    Command Prompt of Windows(make4GB): fsutil file createnew colinux_new.img 8589934592
    >>>Done i create a File with 4Gb...,

    Colinux conf edit: cobd2="c:\path\to\colinux_new.img"
    >>>I dont fine this colinux conf? to be truth i confuse where to find it....Can anyone help me to find it?
    I have suspect file is in my pw server.conf,... but i already try to edit it like apachez solusion
    but it didn't work! and still show me that error.

    And combine commands, i think u got low in swap space, and a little bit on .ext3
    And dont forget to add those path in config file of pwserver (colinux\pwserver etc..)
    a little rough but best u get or keep looking via search )))

    ~ No is not rough kristkos, i already search in this web
    http://colinux.wikia.com/wiki/ExpandingRoot,
    and http://colinux.wikia.com/wiki/HowtoCreateSwapFile
    before i post in this forum... n i still could fix my server:crazy:
    Thats why i post it in this forum asking for help

    I'm a Newbie in this stuff... i don't have skill in programing,...
    I post this again coz,... after i search all post in this forum... i realize that so many Newbie question haven't been answered until now.
    Am i wrong enter this forum? or is there any forum that only for newbie???

    if u need some pic,...I will give u all of my pic on my server component so u can give me direction,.....

    This is Inside My colinux folder:
    Attachment 73245
    This is inside Pw folder inside Colinux Folder:
    Attachment 73246
    This is inside my PWServer.conf:
    pwserver-conf.jpg

    Hope that someone in this forum could help me,.. Plzz coz i can't make any progress if my current server error like this.
    I love this game...But im lost now.

    Thx,.. Hope that someone would help me, and this post can be usefull for anyone who have same problem with me.

    Re: Swap file on colinux

    make your pwserver.conf file look like this

    # The default kernel
    kernel=vmlinux

    # File contains the root file system.
    # Download and extract preconfigured file from SF "Images for 2.6".
    cobd0="C:\coLinux\pwserver\PWServer.ext3"

    # Swap device, should be an empty file with 128..512MB.
    cobd1="C:\swapfilelocation\colinux_new.img"

    # Tell kernel the name of root device (mostly /dev/cobd0,
    # /dev/cobd/0 on Gentoo)
    # This parameter will be forward to Linux kernel.
    root=/dev/cobd0

    # Additional kernel parameters (ro = rootfs mount read only)
    ro

    # Initrd installs modules into the root file system.
    # Need only on first boot.
    initrd=initrd.gz

    # Maximal memory for linux guest
    mem=256

    # Network
    eth0=slirp,,tcp:29000:29000
    eth1=pcap-bridge,,00:FF:F9:54:7C:00
    not sure about the Disk error though

    Re: Swap file on colinux

    i dont know about colinux. but i thought that, better edit the swap partition to the other hardisk.
    so later you can back up your linux file with this command:
    backup;
    * sudo su
    * cd /opt ( my opt directory is on my 2nd hardisk )
    * tar cvpzf backup.tgz --exclude=/proc --exclude=/lost+found --exclude=/opt/backup.tgz --exclude=/mnt --exclude=/sys /

    now you will get backup.tgz on /opt directory.

    restoring:
    * tar xvpfz backup.tgz -C /
    * mkdir proc
    * mkdir lost+found
    * mkdir mnt
    * mkdir sys
    etc...

    its ubuntu version
    i hope it help :)

    Re: Swap file on colinux

    that has nothing to do with it, the reason why your cobd1 isnt connecting is because your path is wrong...

    do exactly what i say

    ~click start
    ~locate RUN
    ~open RUN
    ~type cmd
    ~type in: cd C:\coLinux
    should change your directory to look like this:

    ~now type in: fsutil file createnew pwserver1 1073741824
    should look like this:

    ~do this 3 more times, so you have pwserver1, pwserver2, pwserver3, and pwserver4
    should look like this:

    ~now, download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?oifdddwdjhm
    ~place the file you just downloaded into the folder that has your pwserver.bat and pwserver.ext3

    ~start pwserver.bat

    i made this noob friendly :)

    hmmm....

    i thought that colinux is just emulator like VMWare.
    so it depend what type of linux which become the image for that emulator..
    the various commands is different for each linux type. just a few command and concept. like fedora and ubuntu. i thought its not depend for the emulator ^^ just the type of linux which you burned :)

    @Gearsecond
    Oh it's nice a job architect^^

    I don't know... i just suggest you to use vmware or sun virtual box. I think it's more easy to install it and run it. Colinux is crappy.

    @pagipagi
    Yes it's true i like Debian and Ubuntu... ^^ easy linux distro ^^

    ~open pwserver.conf in a notepad
    ~delete these two lines:
    cobd3="C:\coLinux\PWServer3"
    cobd4="C:\coLinux\PWServer4"

    ~after that test and see what happens
