    Translucent paint

Is it possible to give the items a translucent look (like a ghost)??

yes, you should open the .dds skin in photoshop with the .dds nvidia plugin.

then you should view the alpha layers, and add one with partial transparency.

this will give the object a translucent skin and effect (like that of a ghost). there is already a ghost pet in the game using this exact effect.

There is a thread here on dds tools. One of them should be a dds thumbnail viewer from Nvidia. It works well. I think it is in the pack on the first post.

I use dds converter to convert to a png then edit in gimp before converting back to dds.

    Re: Translucent paint

When you unpack with pwpack a folder called nameofpck.files.pck is created. The files are in there.

The textures for the weapons and armor I would think would be with the models of the items in the models.pck not in surfaces.

It should be something similar but i havent checked.

    Its models.files.pck/models/weapons(or weapon)/something/something/weapon/textures

one of the somethings is probably the weapon type or something idk because I havent translated.

    eg
    C:\pwpack\models.pck.files\models\weapons\人物\刀剑\15品单刀\textures\r_15品单刀.dds

    Re: Translucent paint

    What programs are you using?

Here is how I would do it.

I extract the models.pck with pwpack.
I find the model I want to change the graphics of.
I then look in the textures folder in the model folder and find the dds.
I then run DDS Converter 2 and convert the dds to png.
    Open the png in gimp.
Change the graphics like the color or whatever.
Save the png. Gimp may ask you to export it. I just leave the options as the default.
Convert the png back to dds using DDS Converter 2.
    Repack the models.pck with pwpack
    Copy to your client.
    Test your new graphics.

I havent modified weapons yet but thats how I have been changing the textures of my tiger and fox.

    Re: Translucent paint

The dds should have transparencies in it. Try checking what type of dds you save it as. I think it needs to be dxt3 or something. dxt1 wont work.

Are you importing the dds directly into photoshop or converting it to another format first?

    Re: Translucent paint

finally figured it out data about partial transparency is not within the alpha layer in .dds files its in the .ecm files a filed called DestBlend: the lesser the number on that field more the transparency.....
