so, i cant connect...to my server i have all right and running.. but theres no response from the server
I got the infamous Gauth error =/.
I dunno... what is your client version? Do you have change your serverlist.txt in your client folder?
Do you have changing something to my release?? By default, you just need to upload the files on your server, set permissions, configure the MySQL database and start it! Without need to modify any files of my server release!
Maybe the start.sh if you want to launch some other instances or for correct the little error of the jakarta path... But the others files don't need to be modified!
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and VMWare 7 - Windows 7 and I have a router.
I'm using WICD (Better then network-manager) and VMWare Server to forward ports to VMWare. I am running network connection on vmnet8 and I have configured it in the nat.conf file. I can connect externally to the registration page and so on.
One problem could be that I'm running an IP inside VMWare of 192.168.126.130 and I think the IP you use is different.
I don't remember the IP you used -_-
ubuntu 9.04 server is 64bit OS these are 32 bit server files they will not work on a 64bit OS I think... but not sure
and if you want it public you need to set VM for external static ip I think and forward 29000 and 80 ports to VM's ip
Erndog, im following your tutorial and u say that we need to change IPS, but ROMULAN said that i dont need to change ANY ANY ANY IP...now im confused... help please!
after installing ubuntu I changed all ip's to the ubuntu's ip
"~$ ifconfig".
I could not ever get it to work not changed. when i changed the ip in ubuntu the os would not access the internet,Im not a pro with networking for sure though.... this is just how i got it to work. Its a lot of ip's to change. 170.0.0.0 is the only ip you need to change if you do it this way. nvr change 0.0.0.0 ip.
searching the files is quick way to find all .conf files then search "iweb" and tables.xml is about it for ip changing.
CAn u tell me which files did u change?
So i change only 127.0.0.1 to 192.168.1.101 (ubuntos ip)
right?

i cant found that NPC >.<
sorry wrong thing
yea thats the way i did it but....... no one can connect to my server but me. I think its a port forwarding problem though cuz I can wget http://stuff from my friends pc using hfs. im investigating the No-Ip method now. but for sure it works for you and maybe others to use your external ip if you got 80 and 29000 forwarded. As for witch files to change. man it takes a bit to find them all. just search the hell out of xml and .conf files and iweb in seach and check the folders for .conf files it only takes about 1/2 hour to run through it all if you move on. If I get No-Ip to work ill let you know if and how.
BTW the more i get into this version the more i notice things missing. example of one small thing is there is no animation for sparking...

1. You need to install vmware server (if you're using vmware)
Note: Virtualbox is very difficult to open up.
2. You need to forward port 80 with vmware by editting
-That could be wrong, doing it from memory lol.Code:/etc/vmware/vnet8/nat/nat.conf
3. Open No-IP and go into options and set it to use port 80.
(Optional: If you're using Network-Manager --the default network editor-- you could use WICD, a better network editor. )
Solved Gauth problem, want to know what it is, you probably wont guess it.
There is no port 29200? I have no idea, but I changed the port to one that already works and it connected. -.-
Now I have one more problem to handle.
