what did you select for the virtual machines lan card?
NAT ?
Bridge ?
you need to set the lan card that is assigned to the vm to
bridge .. so the ubuntu inside your vm has a "virtual real" lan
card wich is accessible from your local lan.
you DONT need to change anything in your windows -> network configuration .. you would just mess it up with your vmware lancards.
after you have done this boot the vmware and type
"ifconfig"
it will show you somewhere a device called "ethXX" where XX stays for a number. there you will see the actual ip adress
of the ubuntu. if you dont see any device try
"ifconfig -a" it will show you also inactive devices
you can activate the device with dynamic ip if you got an dhcp
on your lan (dsl router or smth)
"dhclient ethXX" (XX is number)
or you do that by manual set the ip (i use 192.x.x.x as example)
"ifconfig ethXX 192.168.2.10 255.255.255.0 up"
to set internet access with manual ip you also need to add
"route add default gw 192.168.2.1" (192.168.2.1 ex. router)

when I try will connect with WinSCP, as root@192.168.1.20 - i got this error
what i missed?
did you install ssh on that machine?
"apt-get install openssh"
or "apt-get install ssh"
dont remember exact ^^
it was installed on Windows side.
now i am install it on Ubuntu

must I start ssh when connect from WinSCP or its automatically?

hmm maybe you local lan card on your windows isnt in the same network as the ubuntu ?
it must be like (example)
192.168.2.4 (windows)
192.168.2.10 (ubuntu)

Hey Guys i have the same issue, i know everything is correct because i had my server up and online(other players connected) for about 10 hours. Then my computer crashed this morning and when i woke up to restart it i cannot because i get"Network timed out or something like that"
I know this isnt perfect world its actually Jade Dynasty.(there very similar)
Could something with my internet be causing this problem?
BTW i am running a 1.3.6 server and its just on a home computer.
Heres a screen shot. My ip for linux is 192.168.1.250, i know the password(i dont know if i should say here cause idk about hackers or something lol)
What should all my network settings be ? Anyone care to help me, thanks
