Not sure if anyone has done this before or not but is there a way to limit quests to an account instead of per char? Or even better can it be limited to an IP address?

Be more specific...
What do u mean exactly with limit quests?
Tasks are charbased and limitied to a maximum of 4.294.967.295 (including parent- and childtasks)
I mean limit it to an account, so only one character on the account can get the quest
impossible as quests have no account check.
Was worth an ask, thanks :)
On the fact that this request is posted in the 1.3.6 section ur statement could be count as correct!
But there r tasks in 1.4.4+ (atleast it is the 1st time i noticed those - you should investigate here) that only can be done by one char of the account p.ex. the tasks from Aurora Agent can be don 10 times a day by ONE Char of the account...
i rechecked with the help of that quest, it may be that those values were available on 1.3.6, but that will need some more tests. There is also an availfrequency connected as well as a repeat count within this frequency.
Edit: The needed Account limit check came with public quest support, so its not possible with 1.3.6.

You could be creative and make it Control Panel related by having it so you deliver an item to an account only once and they choose which character on the account gain this item and the item activates the quest.
Yep, always gotta think outside da' box![]()
I done too much of that a long time ago on 1.3.6 so I always revert to those measures if it is never available in game, this is clearly why I always say to run a server you need to know more than just on/off button but this sort of advice can help people be creative to a point and hopefully out of the 100's who come along 1 might actually invent something cool to enjoy for their "community".
I am trying to learn php so I can do some cool things like this but it is going slowly right now as I am spending a lot of my time doing patches for my server but then nothing gets learnt over night so someday I will get to a stage where I can create something really cool and when I do I'll share it with everyone here. Sharing is caring as they say.I think I have done well considering I knew absolutely nothing about servers or php when I first started.
Best way to learn imho is to teach yourself. School is over-rated <.< You pay them to teach you stuff you could learn on your own via reading and or trial and error. To me school is just another business, they want your money. Look at it this way, at least where I live, even if you go to all this 'schooling' doesn't guarantee you'll land a job any more so than if you weren't 'schooled'. So yea, to me school is just another business, they want your money as much as anyone else does... Sure they do teach you, you should learn stuff out of it, but like I said, why would you "have" to do that to learn. Exactly, you don't. You can teach yourself by reading and trial and error![]()
I am self taught in a lot of things once you know the basic understanding everything else comes easy, I know a lot of programming languages but can't say I could sit down and do it without examples from google and other documentation so it's not like you have to be a big bank of information to get anywhere.
