the RAM looks really low for me especially if the SQL server runs from that machine too, and running all regions from 1 gameserver can cause the despawn bug later with more players, unless you lower the number of monsters. There are really nice and cheap servers at hetzner, for example this: Hetzner Online AG: Root Server EX 5

    thnx for fast reply..
well i can always upgrade ram.. i already decreased number of monsters by 10%. but how about the speed.?

btw, any recommendable hardware specs.? im trying to set a home server instead of buying a rootserver..
that link u gave is very cheap though.. i might give it a try if i cannot find any good hardware here

Hmm here is my advices/options to you...

You can Support MAX of 50-100 PEOPLE:
    1) You need to upgrade your ram, MIN of 8GB for around 500 people. But thats not your problem because you can just use MSSQL 2005 express, its small and doesnt use much ram.

    2) You need to upgrade "3 Up Mbps" - because this will not be able to handle more than 20-30 people without lag, 3MB UP so roughly (300kb ÷ number of players ÷ distance ÷ your firewall ÷ their firewall) = you will have insane amount of lag!

    3) Consider getting a 50 dollars - 100 dollars dedicated server!

    4) Its extremely risky to host a silkroad server on your home machine, because there is a lot of DDOS attacks going around... and someone like me or big ddosers can burn your modem/router + internet connection and your Hosting company will charge you/your parents a lot of money for the insane amount of extra bandwidth. So its safer for you to get a host!

Lets say you pay for 25MB internet, you probably get a 1-10TB of bandwidth, so yeah... You don't want to get ddosed :P with that much internet.

    Good luck to you...

well said, i think so too, just buy a dedicated server or even if u cant afford it buy a cloud server, worth it.
