jMerliN deserves alot of respect because of his work. He is the one who started the first emu and he is making one of the best now. Never the less Java is a very good language and the only thing making it worse than C++ is that the language is runing slower than C++. Otherwise it's a plus that this can be runed on everything like Linux, Windows and Mac. As Wiliam said he is not creating a full emu but a base for such wich is just what happened with all SREmu projects, before jMerliN made them closed source. The C++ SREmu is a perfect base for starting a project and finishing it.
And btw even now the only sort of wirking public emu is DSREmu that is coded in VB6 on SREmu's base.
All the project's running at the moment have their differences with their own +s and -s, and I hope that there will be at least 1 project done or at least at beta by the end of this year. I realy want to help at this emu but atm it's too much of a hard coding and I'm still learning Java.

And yes "I" do respect him for what he's done, but what i don't respect is the way he express's him self to other projects, if it's not nice just keep your trap shut, because no one wants to hear that this "Project is going to fail" infact what if i decided to insult you and say your project was going to fail, eh? you wouldn't like that now would ya.

I know C++ much better than Java and I too see it as weaker than SREmu, but SREmu was developed in years and this was made a week ago so I think it will be a perfect base for a Java coder to finish it :)

I'm going to be learning java myself, since it is an easy language to learn.

Yet William can not fail since he didn't said that he will finish it. It's only his choice when he will stop or not so their is no failing at it. Everyone can express themselves the way they like so it doesn't matter.
Btw Java is far away from easy. Eeach and every Java style is soo much different from the other that you might not even have heard about the other. Java is more like a combination of different programming styles like MSVStudio.
Well Aion is more like WoW so there is no finishing it- NEVER so each one of theese both are failed from the begining nomather who work on them. There is nothing to do with SRO.

It isn't done and over with. This project is already a failure inherently, for many reasons pointed out in the linked discussion. Rather than waste time reiterating them here, go learn for yourself why this is true rather than disagreeing with me.

Disagreeing when you don't know is ignorant and arrogant. Just because someone predicts that a project will fail does not mean it won't. But in this case, my assessment is accurate.

Additionally not everything made in java is bad, all the maplestory emulators (i believe) are made in Java along with 95% of Runescape private servers. Maplestory servers i havent heard any complaints about, and most RS servers are made by begginers - yet still they hold up fine.

That's an invalid argument towards quality in any manner of speaking. Tell them to run their server on a 300 mhz cpu with 64mb of memory and see how well they "hold up."

They are shittily coded servers, most of them run on peoples home pc with crappy connections.

You don't get it. I've already explained why even this is inefficient. You should research before you assume the "omg, it's using <insert buzzword here>, it's amazing!"

Networking is an incredibly simple thing, especially if done right. Using library X and package X to do the SIMPLE THINGS for you is, and read this a few times, BAD DESIGN.

Also, apache web servers are slow. Very slow. Why would you use a networking product developed by them? That's just.. illogical.

Apache webservers have been pracitcally the best and most used webservers until litespeed came around. Yes networking is simple, but its difficult to get it working smooth in java for a high number of connections without lag. (getting right amount of users on each thread) According to the page Apache MINA is known to perform as good as C/C++ servers, there are plenty of testimonials - some from companies making online games and projects involving lots of connections. (domain registrar EURid who run the .eu sales, they handled 700,000 sales in the first 4 hours)

.. Everything for runescape is made 100% in java. Even the client.. Thats why it's a fail game >_>
