You can't just fix a "real" ddos. Yeah, you can deflate smaller ones using hardware firewalls, gateways, etc, but nothing will save you against huger ones.
You can avoid ddos attack but you need to create your own firewall against it. There is a program that can help you to block the packets but i never tried it. check on google

Software firewalls wont help this time. We receive a big attack (compared to other attacks we received) and we arent the only one. Almost every bigger server gets attacked and in my point of view we cant be sure its other "servers".
It happens at least once a day. sometimes works sometimes doesn't just buy a dedi with enought bandwith to withstand the incoming packets and secure up your server.
