Dear Slash,
thank you very much for your installation guide.
I installed the server yesterday in a few minutes.
I don't use vmware instead I use virtualbox.
I have some experience of virtualmachine-software and LINUX.
The first thing I have done in my LINUX-machine, was configuring my keyboard to german layout. Then I have configured the network from dynamic to static addresses.
The midnightcommander is your friend.:):
I still have a little problem. My router shows the same hostnames for VHOST and VM. I always use bridged network connection. For my VM with opensuse the router shows the correct hostname. Any ideas?
After starting the server, I got a message to upgrade the system. Shall I do it or not? I think it's better to leave it untouched?!? I fear, that the system becomes unstable. But I think it's no problem. I can still clone the machine. Oh, I love VM's. :):
I have found a bit of little mistakes in your guide.
The IP that you must change to your own IP called "192.168.1.6" instead of "10.0.0.2"
But I think that all the experienced users are knowing what you have meant. :):
In the file "status.php" you must also change the IP to your own IP of your gameserver.
(var/www/status.php)
I was so confused that my webserver shows "Offline". :blushing:
Have a nice day.

Hello Guys,
yesterday i created a solo diskimagefile for Virtualbox from the multiple imagefiles of vmware.
These are my steps. I created a new machine "Ubuntu Linux 64-bit" in VB and created an empty
diskimage (VDI) with the same capacity (20GB). I switched to my VM of "opensuse". I connected
the VMDK and the VDI in the controller-setup of VB.
Then I started opensuse-VM. In the bash I switched to superuser-mode and I looked up for drives
with the command fdisk -l. I saw my drives an the partitions. In my case the drives called:
sda (the opensuse-image)
sdb (the vmware-image)
sdc (the empty VDI-image, no partitions)
Then i cloned the vmware-image in the shell with the dd-command.
dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/sdc bs=1M
To prevent any damage during cloning, it's recommended, to unmount the disks that shall be cloned.
After processing I shutdown my "opensuse-VM". In VB i deleted the connection of the the VMDK and VDI
in the controller-setup of "opensuse-VM". I switched to the machine "Ubuntu Linux" and connected the
new VDI-image in the controller-setup. After a few settings, I am sure you know what i mean, I started
the new machine. Without problems. My machine is still running well. I started all services and I started
the Forsaken-Client. Worked well. And I had a new idea: "Update"
I shutdown the server and cloned the machine of "Ubuntu Linux" with the VB-Tool.
Then I started the clone of "Ubuntu Linux". Worked well.
Then I configured the repositories for apt (I prefer the german mirror-servers).
I cleaned up the repositories with "apt-get clean" and started the update with the repositories with
"apt-get update". Then I started the upgrade with "apt-get upgrade". After processing I made a reboot.
Everything worked fine.
Then I became more brave. I installed KDE-desktop.
Now, everything works fine for me.
Time to make a clone and setup second server.
Have a nice day

Hello bluebyte! Thank you for your corrections in my release. :)
I'll add the status.php too!

WhereThe Forsaken World Server ?
Hello Guys,
yesterday i crashed my server. I changed the logic level in the ptemplate.conf to 150.
When I started the server i got errors while starting the authority-demon "authd".
I think, that there was some mismatch in the database. I also used iweb-interface.
Now my question: "How high you can raise the level?"
Sometimes iweb works fine and sometimes iweb doesn't show any reaction. Any idea?
Have a nice day

Hello, SlaSH.
Thank you for such a good job, everything works just great.
Now i have only one queston: can i update these server files to v311? Or it'll crash the whole server?
Hello, Dima Tikhonov.
Yes you can update the server files. Just remember that the v311 server files you're download HAS to have a start.sh script that invokes the correct commands.
Have a nice Day, SlaSH
