Here is what i tried to explain to you over youtube comment section
the thing you did is so called "UV projection" , it is simply forcing a new texture over the uv map of a unwrapped model, you can see if you look on a 2D viewer that it simply look like i put 1 image over the uv, and if you look at 3D viewer, you will notice texture is not connecting that well over different part of a model

Why the thing that should be tried is called "Tri-planar projection" which by using some magic ( ohh cmon had to joke here ) is fitting the texture you try to load by using a model vertexes / unwraps first instead of a completed uv map.. Thats why on a 2D viewer it might looks like a cluster-fuck... or simply wierd... while on a 3D viewer you will notice that texture is fitting perfectly with a model parts, which alowes for a better texture
