Dedicated Server Question

Hi guys,
We will buy the dedicated server soon.But I have some questions:

1:What should be the features of this dedi. server?

2:What do I need for 500 people play no lag/ping?

(processor, ram, hdd, Mbit, monthly traffic space,operating system informations please )

I had a VPS, a cheap one, it was like $30.
It had 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Intel Q9700 and 1000GB bandwidth as also 100MB Uplink Speed. I could run it with 50 players, since no one joined it.

12 GB RAM,
1TB hdd
3000GB traffic(month), 100mbps
Intel E3-1240 proccessor
HP P410 1GB raid card

Is it enough? :D Share all ideas..

Its a good conf. I believe you can put servers up to 700 players or even more....
is a good setup, what you will need most is:
memory
processor
Uplink
