I install and tested your source in VPS. and that's what I will see first.

Looks as though there is a !Network (Update function) (not network aka localhost) check working.
But the Network (Update function) (network connected aka remote server or vps) check is not being checked or it is missing.

I'll dig, but its on the Bottom of my ToDo List
As I don't support Remote setups.
