(SOLVED) How do I play with another player on LAN?

I've done a complete 100.02 Server setup using tya411's VM. Ran API, Start and files 0 to 7. The game works perfectly for me but I wanted to test someone connecting to play on my server and their launcher won't load up to sign in. (I gave him a copy of my game client.) What can be the problem?

    There's 2 options,

    1. Expose your public IP
    2. Set up a VPN in your TERA server

    1. Check whats your Public IP. , Now for start, you need to already have access to your isp router and open 7801 and whatever the port you choise for the api (8080 as example) and forward it to your tera server. i leave this pic as example.

I have my tera server in a machine configured with 10.0.0.81 ip add.

    2. Edit the local ip from the launcher with resource hacker

The same thing you did to configure your local ip but this time is your public ip addr. (the one you got with ipchicken)

    3. Make sure you server has the ports allowed in your firewall and gtg (that's the launcher your need to give to your friend)

    Thats the client part.

For server in the open your MySQL database, goto server_info and edit your server IP by the public one.

    With that configured should work.

    2. For the vpn part you can use radmin, openvpn or zerotier i guess it will work, make sure you friend has access to your local network, that your server has access to the vpn server and configure the launcher and server_info with the ip provided by the vpn server.

    It should work

We live in the same house, does that make a difference? If not then I'll try this setup.

Ah, We're speaking that both of you are in the same network,

Then allow 7801 and *8080* (*or the port you choose for the API) in your firewall

So, if the server ip address is for example 192.168.1.115 then both launcher and server_info should have that same ip addr and should work

Oh I see! But do I make these exceptions in the firewall settings on the Virtual Machine? Or regular desktop? And do we both have to do this firewall exception in our desktops or just me?

    In the VM only.

Hope you are using bridged connection instead of NAT

update: None of that works. I use tya411's VM which is kind of setup for offline play I was told, is there a way to make this be online?

@voxelkitten - I replied to you in the VM thread, but I also made a new tutorial for you (and others) for LAN play.
    Here you go: https://forum.ragezone.com/f798/tera...vm-on-1207134/

NOTE that "online" is not the same thing as "LAN" and thats not the same as "offline".

Online == Players from the internet and not on the same local network can connect.
LAN == Players from the internet CANNOT connect, but others on your same router/home network/wifi can connect.
Offline == Same as solo play. Only the same hostPC running the VM can connect (aka localhost).
