@"first movie took 15 years to make" - that was simply because when Cameron wrote the script for the first Avatar movie, there wasn't enough technology around for him to produce the masterpiece that he wanted. There is now and it's quality is increasing everyday..
Its good if they're 3hrs whilst you know the genre, but on avatar I am unsure weather the genre is action, adventure or romance.
Whilst LOTR is a Adventure/Action film

Im guessing that he is writing the script for them both at the same time so thats why they are announced at the same time.

But why would you even write the script for both at the same time? Concentration is important if the film is to be a success, and focusing on 2 at the same time just seems silly.

just repeat everything Wucas said why dont you!
I would look forward to getting the Blu Rays. Was far better watching on a HD tv than 3D in the cinema. So much detail is lost from crappy projectionists and crap quality 3D glasses. It has a huge first film to follow, and most people fail at just making a sequel that meets up to the demands of the original.

I've never watched Avatar, it seems lame to me.
Let's hope if he makes a new one, it wont be lame

How is the first Avatar "lame" if it made $1.83 Billion, also if you didn't like the first one then i don't think you would like the next one.

How is it lame? my opinion is it was lame. End of it.
The second or 3rd could have a neat story that I'd find interesting and like. DUR unlike the 1st one
Re: [FILM] Avatar 2 & 3 Coming soon
The first one did go on for a while, and it appeared that the storyline was just stretched out to show-off the graphics. The second one will hopefully improve the length.
