Summary of Episode 1:
[spoiler]Seems to be set just after Edward becomes a state alchemist.
Enemy: Isaac of Ice - former alchemist that worked with Col. Mustang during the Ishbal Extermination. (more or less filler)
Has Edward/Al's first meeting with Hughes where he invites them to stay.
Isaac meets with Kimblee(Crimson alchemist) in jail.
Isaac tries to cover the HQ with ice with a huge Transmutation circle which activates with the power of a philosophers stone. At this moment we see a close up of Father (!) opening his eyes!
A few characters make an appearance - Armstrong, Riza Hawkeye.
In the end F
Personally thought of it more as giving the impression of fore-shadowing.
eg. the glimpse of Father was well done and doesn't imply any former knowledge.
Tbh, everyone knew there was something about Bradley first time around aswell.
I don't think it was forcing the characters in for just the old watchers but for the new ones aswell.
I think this because people are normally idiots:
Most probably wouldn't watch fma the first time round if you had only seen the first episode, it didn't have that major hook for the masses.
(Most people I know only watched it from recommendations/it's reputation)
This time around they've started with an action packed first episode that shows people essentially saying "look at me, I can go *BOOM*" which is designed to hook people.
I think the first episode had three parts to it:
The skim over the old characters for the old watchers (nostalgia)
The action was to bring in new characters (hook)
The fore-shadowing within the episode (story)
I think from now it's just gonna go back and follow the story and introduce everyone properly though.
Crash
It is the second season (R2) and its the viewer's fault for not watching season one (R1). The writers assume, since it is the 'second season/R2', that the viewer has seen season one/R1.
By the way does anyone know when the next episode is supposed to be aired or, better yet, when the episodes regularly air?
And the hell? In the preview of episode 3, it was the stupid priest with the crapped up shizz.
But I swear, I saw that on TV in ENGLISH.
IS THAT NEW? :O:
there was no Season 1 of FMA o_0
it was just they want off the Story line like completely and went with
the flow of what they wanted
and since they decided to start over again just with the manga.
the manga had more appeal cause it has a better built story line
and FMA was kinda hectic to me it seemed more built on drama and all the wrong things that happened to the brothers, even if it is about them the manga revolved around everyone in a way
Essentially they want to do this:

The first anime went WAY off the manga and suffered for it, this time around they seem to be wanting to re-do it the way that it should have been done.
Crash
The first anime wasn't a failed one. It was relatively popular despite it being not anywhere near manga, alot of my acquaintance love FMA 1 for crying out loud, at the place I live actually.
Didnt fullmetal give his life to give his brother back his body, if season 2 has both brothers in it then it really wouldnt be a season two just a side story?
Lots of popular fansub groups has backed off from subbing FMA: Brotherhood because of Funimation licensing it already... It is already being subbed by them and is available on their site.
FMA: Brotherhood isn't really anything special. Remake following the manga? Please >.>
I agree as well. I've never actually ever watched Dragonball series in Japanese till couple of days ago. I watched Dragonball Kai and I was completely disgusted... Ya the art and quality got some touch Ups but the voice actors really don't match at all with the characters and sounds really horrid. The English dubbed version is way better
if you want to get technical then no. There was no 'official' declaration of seasons as far as I know, yet I was basing that off of thinking that the number of years between the two series would certainly qualify it as a season (season do not need continued story lines)
