Anime Guy/Legend
Re: Question about naruto
It's the same general story but the anime adds fillers (episode arcs where it doesn't follow the manga).
Eg:
In Naruto the episodes 136~220 are all fillers.
In Naruto Shippuden you have the arc with that Sora guy (55~72) is a filler arc
Also the current arc (92 onwards) (I dropped the anime when they started)
Fillers are normally made when the anime is catching up to the manga to give the manga writer time to produce more chapters/advance the storyline since it's anything from 1~3 chapters per episode.
However the current fillers are only here because they want to milk the huge amount of interest there has been for the tailed beast/hosts that were not shown in the manga.
The annoying thing for me is that they are actually changing the plot now with this current arc for two reasons:
First he is learning things (rule of fillers is that everything is the same as it was at the beginning).
Secondly this whole arc is about the 3 tails which was already shown in the manga but the anime just skipped it and is making this whole thing instead...
Anyway, If you want to read the manga I suggest that you read Kakashi Gaiden first (239~244) since the anime missed that (shows some importance) then go onto chapter 343 which is the next thing that happens after the Naruto vs Kakuzu, Shikamaru vs Hidan fights.
