meh the end was just plain meh.
and I kinda lolled at how they did the system command thingy...
That's the end of season one. I hope they don't skip anything in the next season and actually follow the novel.
Im just glad its over tbh... i was getting tired of cliched lines and the facepalms that happened in every episode. I honestly will probably not watch a sequel to this in all honesty. I read the first 3 LNs and I think I will probably stop there as well. I have plenty other reading material that can take priority over this.
@ GeNyaa, you changed your avatar! :o
Come on ... it wasn't that bad... it started f**king awesome , but it ended too simple. A little more drama might have been good.
Out of the 44 shows I watched that aired in 2012 there are only 3 I considered dropping.
Mysterious Girlfriend X
Kids on a Slope
Sword Art Online
I really liked it in the beginning, you're right, but as the show continued on it just took a nose dive. Compared to Accel World which I actually enjoyed because it wasn't so serious all the time, this show felt like it wanted to be everything all at once. Sword Art Online wasn't a fighting show, wasn't slice of life, wasn't moe, wasn't action, wasn't tsundre, but it took pieces of all of them anyways (which is partly to blame from the LNs, but the show just made it awkwardly noticeable x.x). A "good" show (for me) isn't defined on how many genres it can throw mediocre-ly together and calling it good; a good show takes a single genre and redefines it, adding good visuals and an awesome story telling style along with it. If you go by sales, Kirito-kun and Asuna-chan over here printed off more money than a lot of the "better" shows that aired this year.
As for the source material, I read the first 3 LNs, they were quite good but you can tell it was written for a younger audience in mind, which lead to some problems in the show. When the books are aimed for 10-16 but the show is working to please 13+, it just doesn't work well in the end.

P.S.: Best 5 of 2012 are still (in no particular order)
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity Has Declined)
Nisemonogatari
Hyou-ka: You Can't Escape
Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World)
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou)
I have watched the first episode but I got really bored on reading subtitles XD So , anyone know English Dub of SwordArt Online ? XD
Don't think it will be out on dub for another year or two depends on how well the dvd sales go and if any company's want to pick it up.
its just a new anime right ? if its new its gonna take some time for the release of the english dub
I was wondering this... SAO is pg 13 but is full of blood and violence... My opinion is that they should have make it without the ALO arc... and properly end the SAO arc... it would have been a good 14-15 eps of anime.
P.S. I hope they make a MMORPG based on this ... with permadeath :D It will be great.
It was the best selling DVD/BD for Summer of 2012, only being beat by Kuroko no Basket and Nisemonogatari in yearly sales category, both of which aired earlier in the year (at least in anime created in 2012). Sword Art Online prints money, you have nothing to worry about.
Depends on who gets the license, if Funimation gets it, you should have dubs in one to two years, if another license holder grabs it, it could be longer or shorter depending.
If you want to get technical, this really was a two season anime already, just both seasons were crunched together. Did you notice how episode 13 (I think it was) felt more like a conclusion than a turning point? That is why. When the DVD/BD go on sale they are divided this way, probably in hopes to get more money out of the show. This is why you also see changes in openings and endings as well. Since Japan goes by quarter seasons, really, every 12-15 episodes is actually a "new season", just some shows decide to continue on without waiting to see feedback from customers.
Will it get another season? I would have to say with sales numbers, there is little doubt we will see a sequel in the next year or so.
TL;DR: Episodes 1-13 (SAO Arc): Season One - Episodes 14-26 (ALO Arc): Season Two
