Why is Bleach called "Bleach"

BLEACH = ブリーチ = buri-ni (bu ri - ni <-- yes the 3rd letter is the "-" sign) japanese in Katakana, i dont think there's a Hiragana name...

Well the Katakana is ブリーチ , not sure about Hiragana, I'll look.

it could be because the hollow masks look bleached out, and when u get ichigo fighting his hollow, the hollow version has bleached out clothes?
