It was in many version before and I loved that. I didn't had to stick to my country's version , wherever I go they speak the same language. It was good at times I went on other habbo versions met new people , new friends , got to know what was it like for them in a different country. Ahh but the days are gone , sadly.

Funny thing.. my current girlfriend used to play Habbo. I even have stayed in touch with 2 good friends whom I met from the website. One of which operates a pretty decent habbo-like site and just graduated from a great college in the states. Crazy to think back on what Habbo really gave people though, I know it started alot of people's programming career's early among other things. I for example am completing my undergrad degree in Network Security/System's Administration and I deeply feel that my career choice was definitely chosen because of my early script kiddy days of Habbo. Wow.

From posting in another thread, I just got what I think is a brilliant idea for Sulake/Habbo. It's been said before, but probably not in this much detail.

So, Sulake and Habbo are most likely looking to keep a good user base while still making a sufficient amount of money. I know of a way that they can do both of these things. Now, you may or may not know that one of the biggest reasons that users are leaving Habbo is for Habbo "Retros" or Private Servers. So, why not sell official private servers? This could be very beneficial to you and the users. Now, you may ask how this would keep your user base up if they're all playing other servers? Easy, it can all be rooted from your client. So, it would work almost like RuneScape or Minecraft. You choose the main hotel or a private hotel. The user who owns the hotel can manage the catalogue, if people get coins, bans from that hotel, they can hire staff, etc. There can be extra currency too, so that if users want to buy furni from the real hotel they have to buy coins, but in other hotels they might get pixels or something for free. This way users can buy from every hotel and money goes to Habbo/Sulake or based on that hotel's catalogue they can buy stuff for free, but only for that hotel. Now, if you're worried about absolute chaos inside private hotels, you can also close/ban hotels.

It's an awesome system if it is well thought out. If you are looking to get a bigger user base and still make a lot of money. This is or something similar is what you need to do.

A little confusing from my perspective. If they sell Private Servers, does that mean the buyer will have an emulator which will be used to connect?
If thats the case, I could see people cracking/distributing the server for free etc :P

if they get credits on the private hotels, where is the money Sulake would earn? The owner of the hotel is not going to pay the equivalent of money for those credits to Sulake.

Its a stupid idea and Sulake is not going to do this. Imagine people that ruin their name because of this system? They wont be happy...

Minecraft works because its made to be played on different servers and on localhost (Single Player). Its a very bad comparison. Habbo is made for multiplayer and it is useless to play singleplayer if it had that option.

Your idea is useless and wont work.

Relax because you've misunderstood. The money to buy credits from the private servers would go directly to Sulake. That's the point, it would all root from the usual Habbo Client. Also, they would be able to ban and shut down servers that don't moderate correctly. Like I said, It would all have to be well thought out, much more into detail than this. I was simply pitching an idea for others to elaborate on, so no need to degrade people.

If that's the case, then the point of the servers would be pointless? Because it all still goes down to buying credits, which is one reason why people flock to Retros - you don't have to :P

No, that's not what I mean. Pretty much what I'm saying is that buying a "Hotel" or "Private Server" from them is that they would almost buy a new hotel/world within Habbo that is run completely by the user. It wouldn't be cheap, and maybe an age limit could be set, so that not just any little kid could buy one just to keep it clean of nonsense.

Pretty much, I'm saying sell a hotel that does not require buying a VPS/Dedi and does not have as many errors and issues as a usual Habbo retro.

Maybe it's not a great idea, but it's an idea. Just trying to keep the conversation going.

Not exactly because the user who owns it would have the ability to sell items for free or credits are free within that hotel alone. It seems like I didn't explain this too well, but I didn't want to bore people with details about it.

Why would you buy credits on a private server instead on the real deal?

It would be a big hassle to keep an eye on all the servers...

And I just give you my opinion why it is not going to work.

    Too much risks for Sulake.

Sulake will never license their emulator and sell it. Plus, there isn't much profit for them and the person who hosts it so it's very unlikely they will agree to something like that.

    Thanks,

If they sell it they encourage retro hotels. People get a lot of money, buy their emulator, and start a free hotel. People will crack it, release it and then Sulake is screwed.

Nevermind, like I said, it would have to be well-thought out to work out the nooks and crannies. Anyone else have some ideas?
