There are a lot of ways to protect your HTML5 game, for example node-webkit can compile javscript to bytecode so yeah...
Frameworks such as pixi or phaser have great performance, FLASH days are over.
As for beeing hard to work using the canvas... well there are more options, for example using Go with Gopherjs, TypeScript...
Google Blocks Flash Ads, end of flash is set what will happen to the retros which run on flash?
Earlier this year Firefox also announced that they will drop support for Flash since it's unsafe.
Google Is Taking a Big Step to Kill Off Flash for Good | WIRED
Is this the end of Flash retros?
Firefox dropped support on flash for a short time period because of security issues. Flash already works because Adobe fixed the issue.
Also, it would be bad to just drop the support for flash. Think of sulake, it will have a huge impact because they utilise flash for habbo. And not only sulake!
Non the less, a end of service date is not a bad idea.
A number of large companies (including Adobe) have recommended deprecating Flash. Especially now after the 0-day that was leaked from the "Hacking Team" breach. (Three separate exploits, all critical vulns)
Given that they're hiring more and more JavaScript developers these days (seemingly focused on the web, but some back end as well), I suspect they're working on a port to HTML5/WebGL. The fact that the camera was written to utilize NodeJS on the back end strongly suggests they have a working room renderer, which is a large portion of what would need to be coded. If that works in a browser, which it very well might, that's likely the direction they're headed in. Personally I smell a late October / early November beta. :)
Let's the new web begins!
Please adobe, do not open an process against companies who killed adobe flash.
Ps. The flash has done a lot of overtime![]()
@scottstamp851 I hope you're right, that would be very interesting to see!
Habbo is still gonna use Adobe Flash player. Screenshot by Lightshot
I still remember becoming the host of Hebbo's hotel. Running HabLog while Nillus made fun of us. Ah the good 'ole days. Much has been lost. I think the Shockwave versions of Habbo were the best to learn from, since it was so simple, no CMS crap was necessary at all. We never got to see a reliable Old School server that actually hit the thousands of users online it could of handled. I remember there was once upon a time where Habbo would limit how many could come online, if you were not in Habbo Club, you couldn't go online past their limit. Heh.
