I'm sorry, I don't mean to flame or bring any controversy or anything in that matter - But I think you all are just stupid, what is the point in just editing the client files, images, and UI and claim it as your own work. Don't get me started on the fact that it won't make your game legal at all, Sulake doesn't only just copyright their images - they copyright their intellectual work which includes their code (In the SWFs, and client files) - So rethink guys.. Rethink!

To be honest, that would be a complete waste of time. You're better off completely starting from scratch and making your own game. I understand where you're coming from, but seriously making Habbo with different images is stupid. It just won't be Habbo anymore, and it will look dumb most likely. It could be pulled off, but what I'm saying is why risk the possibility of doing all that work and Sulake still claiming it was stolen from them when you can just do a whole new game by yourself which is essentially what you'd be doing anyway. Hell, at this point, if someone from this section made a new MMORPG similar to Habbo, but not Habbo. I would play it, simple as that. I guarantee you that you could get many other people to play it as well. If Habbo were smart, they would do something similar to MineCraft and allow private servers that were bought from them. They could sell them for a decent amount of money and make a fortune most likely. I mean think about it, it would be the smartest thing they could do at this point. All of their users are so f***ing interested in playing private servers, they'd make a fortune.

The topic was actually the creation of your own SWF files, not editing the current ones. No one gives a crap about owning a legal hotel.

Pretty sure you're not the first to mention this. I kind of find it offending that you broadly say "you are all stupid". Quite frankly that is not the case because there are many talented people in this section that can do more then you. Maybe, just maybe, you should re-think before you post. We all know that it's illegal, there's threads about it everyday in this section. Just be careful about what you post, empathy my friend, empathy.

I think the idea is really cool but you need to make sure it's still the same idea of the game - you can create your own chat rooms and play games with friends.
Also, if you're looking for pixel artists to help design custom characters please message me. We have a great team of designers creating amazing things for an upcoming retro of ours.

They didn't copyright their idea. If you can create an own .SWF from scratch without using codes/images from Sulake, they can't sue you.
Google can't blame people if they make their own search machine / youtube variant from scratch as long as they don't steal copyrighted materials.

I didn't say the SWF was copyrighted by them, but their codes are. They coded the SWFs themselves, which what makes Habbo work - thus being their IP. Well, I might create my own game if I'm done with my studies. It'll be like Habbo but different. Something like that I've seen already (but don't know the name anymore). It's better to do that than continue being illegal and maybe let Sulake shut down your VPS... bye bye money!
