Have any hotel owner heard about SSL in their lives?

"We're secure come in!" Have any hotel owners heard about SSL? Every single hotel right now runs without any secure connection within registering and login page, same for payments pages.

Did you ever guess what your hotel would look like now if you had installed a SSL Certificate onto your housekeeping or any back-end management UI? Less problems uh?

Hard will be the day, a guy will be able to rip-off every single hotel because he was able to intercept connections and informations.

I run on SSL. People are not going on SSL cuz then they need to let cloudflare down. Cuz they don't want to update there package @Cloudflare.
PEOPLE CLOUDFLARE IS NOT EVERYTHING ..

I use Cloudflare business and hope my connections are secured with there own SSL certificate on my site.

    Okay.. good logic.

Anyways, we've had SSL on our Hotel for a long time now. People aren't going to give up their Cloudflare for SSL, simply because Cloudflare Business is expensive to upgrade to. Yes, there's other ways around Cloudflare, but it's there for people who don't know other ways around Cloudflare.

When it comes to retros, SSL is pointless.

I kind of agree with nobrain on this, they are pretty useless for retros, on the other hand I'm quite surprised people still use Cloudflare, I've never used it because I don't see a point, pay a little bit extra and get yourself a good host, I've always just stuck to buying an Ubuntu Dedi as they are considerably cheaper and you can get better specs for less price than Windows.

It's also handy 'cause I manage all the servers at work so I am already quite in-touch with the security and managing of Ubuntu instances.

I don't see why you would even want to use Cloudfare. There is absolutely no technology that is able to stop you or prevent your hotel from being DDoS attacked. If there was, there wouldn't be any talk about it. It's just like trying to hide your server IP in a SWF rofl or you're doing is making it a little harder, not stopping it.

I agree with nobrains. No point to SSL, as soon as people think about SSL, they think $$$$$. Which is not always the case by the way. It's also seen to be to difficult, which is true, in the context of protecting a Retro with it. You'd be better of with a good host who knows what they're doing, a good firewall configuration to block idiots from discovering open ports and services to exploit and finally and more important, a good password - lol.

SSL is good to ensure 'user safety', but no, it will not make the hotel itself any safe :), but at least your user privacy is a little more secured :)
