Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
Yes the Habbo section is dieing. And it is highly likely it'll continue to die.
Why?? So many reasons
- Habbo is getting old, boring. And most players are now like twelvies..
- People are lazy and slack. They cant do minor things themselves and need help with everything they try and do.. All running same emulators/cms not much difference.
- Sulake is roaming around. With Sulake aiming at taking down owners/developers less developments are being done. Still alot of nooby hotels though..
- Booters. Kids are just buying booters and showing off with them nowadays.. booting eachother...
- Renames and fake developments. Think of all the renames we've had... butterfly > butterstorm > bcstorm > all the latest renames..
Only way the Habbo section & possibly the future of retros would lie on the hands on the current people in the section to work together.. and stop being so greedy..
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
First of all.
You may as well just stop your posting because this is a post where i ask peoples opinions and if i think of another opinion why i don't like the Habbo section then I'm always able to write them out and the post count does not matter.
Don't be a fool and just let me post whenever i want to and so does others in that case when they don't agree then they are always free to say why they don't agree and then you can understand or disagree.
Please don't get your arms twited about the most stupidest things.
I'm not greedy it's just that i found his podt weird and hard to understand so it's not being greedy you fool it's just that i didn't understand Ultimate's post.
Quackster.
You don't need Habbo your a Bukkit eXpert.

Anyhow, my list isnt aimed at you. I've wrote it down because those are the reasons I believe the community is getting ripped in half. Its aimed at everyone in the retro community.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
I'll have to agree on that and it's all fine eventually not going to make a fight here so let's just try to stay on-topic so we can keep this active and good so people can give their opinions as much as possible.
Anyway after the good people left people started to rip-off and what not so i can't say the section is better indeed.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
On my side I got bored of this, I started wanting to learn more about this huge world and programming, but now I feel like there's nothing useful to learn anymore...

200? - (late 2010
People used to contribute awesome stuff. The average age of the community was >16. The mentality was to help and contribute as there were very popular developers doing so. There were many cool add-ons to holoCMS and later on, PHPRetro. Even though holoCMS and PHPRetro were badly coded, for the time it was amazing. People released custom furniture which was of great quality with proper SQL's and catalogue pages. There was a varying degree in the emulator side of things as well. People like cecer1 and Dissi did Holo SQL pooling and fixed up a lot of things. Most hotels ran V26 for about 2 years and there was genuine competition among them. By this I mean, retros competed on pure quality and people went to what was best. Unlike now where people compete by either; Cheating on retroslist, booting competing hotels offline and attempting to dox the owners. There was once a time when, you could run your hotel off a VPS, with your IP exposed, and you would, at worst get a script kiddie downloading a HTTP flooder and flooded your webserver. Unlike now where everyone has a booter pointed at one another and the community is full of drama and aids.
2011 - now
All the developers have left. Many fake developments pop up in the development section on a weekly basis. I have not seen any viable or actual emulators released since Uber Emulator (which is your phx or butter[storm/fly/fire/whatever]) re-names. That you could, essentially put live on a hotel and use properly. Attempts were made, and some did succeed (Quackster) but it vanished into the night due to Sulake or whatever. The odd CMS thread comes up, and there's a release. But the CMS is just as bad as the old ones and does nothing you. You can count on a daily release of some form of 'RevCMS' which is now 3 years old. Never anything innovative or special, normally some broken, poorly coded add-on or shitty paint-done theme. Same for furniture releases, the people who release them can't even get the SQL's right and always fail to release the proper banners, icons or pictures. The 'hotel' community is in an even more broken state. As previously said, cheating is rife. There is no genuine competition. Booting/DDoS attacks are also rife. Put up a hotel, and in no time you'll have someone making threats to DDoS you.
The community destroyed its self with in, but no one cares. And with Sulake watching (because yes, they are) the community is a dying thing.
Personally, I can't wait to see it die.
I've tried multiple times to make a CMS from scratch, with a lot of features. But I get 20 downloads per 2 months, so I've given up on it now because everyone will stuck to RevCMS no matter what.
The reason Quacksters Emu didn't become popular was because Sulake stopped the original dev and nobody has the coding skills and/or motivation to continue it
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
I am using your CMS Azaidi anyway as said before the section is pretty dead now but back in the days when you made something like this then you would get loads of downloads also if the style was nice et cetera and it was different than any other CMS around the forum.
Anyway don't give up yet you may want to learn me some PHP because I'm sucking at it.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
I can agree with Matthew.
It was a bunch of us around, and I jumped in around the time when HoloCMS was first starting with Sisija, Meth0d, etc.
To make a long story short, this section has became a leeching environment. No one has initiative to step up and proceed with a successful development (not a rename), and change this section around.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
I'm from that time as well and as you and Matt said it's a damn shame that they are not coming back anymore and sometimes i wish we could just turn back time because that time compared to this time.
I'm still hoping that some at least bother to have a look in this section and show their faces for a little bit again!
I may as well step out of this section soon as well.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
True Baas the whole section is Fucked up indeed i can only agree loads with you there!
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
Habbo was best about 5-6 years ago, this section was full of motivated, happy people and some very good server developers. Most of them just grew up and moved on with life, there are far more important things in life that must be done (education, work etc)
The RZ Habbo community today just doesn't have that special touch. Not many people even play Habbo anymore, there are plenty of better games to play. People now want to play games with realism/HD graphics. No one is motivated enough to keep this section going. I see a lot of re-releases and unstable servers being released, it's just pointless.
A lot of companies are like this, they have their "special years" where they attract a lot of users but then eventually it becomes less popular as people find better things. I can give many examples, such as Myspace (people moved on to Facebook) and so on.

I've seen this kind of threads 100 times now over the past 9 months and nothing has changed. You guys are complaining this section dies. Maybe you ask the wrong question, what about the question: "What can we do to bring it back"?
It's just a lack of initiative from this section..
^ I completely agree with this statement.
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
I agree, however! When I joined, there where allot of fixes for servers and edits which made the original better. My point is, that it has the same amount of users online as today!
So tell me, who of those lurkers aren't even posting and let the section die?
*** removed ***
People who're lurkers:
Rene31c, HabboGee, Joe Richardson, Jones2301, Fenturr, Mike Sant, Ipod500, Rocco Napoli, MrSpooks, BabboST, MattyiNolt, SChrisS, Breyk07.... to many to sum.
OEPS, busted....
Re: Your thoughts about the Habbo section now.
The section is slowly returning to popular again even though these may be people you don't even know not that you all know me but it's just pretty nice that at least people bother to get over here and have a look again or come here because they are new or what not.
Anyway would be nice if the older people come back again and it doesn't need to be an popular developer or popular project leader but at least some people from the old time would be nice though.
Anyway you've said before: People are getting too-old and that's bad but it's true so I'm not going to further go on about wanting the old people back because it's clear that they wont but it was just: IF they would come back then the section would be nice!

The lack of older people(not oldskool, but just older people 16.. 17.. 18.. 19) is really something which bothers me. Nowadays on retro forums, either ragezone or some foreign ripoff, it's 12-years-old who just got their first touch of hormones and hitting puberty here and there, who are 'active' posters. They do bring the habbo section to a low level and they do should fuck off with their shit tutorials on how to make a hamachi R63 retro and their custom egg releases without shading or with shitty drawn faces on it and of course their help threads on where can I find SWFs!??!?!?!
I am definitely not an oldskooler, but I really get what you guys mean if you talk about "back in the days". Everything was just fine untill it has become possible for even a 9-years-old to run a retro.
