Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
whats really nice about that little map you posted, Moofin, is that a whole big borough which no one appreciates (Staten Island) is cut off. It also adds some more. But it is pretty much NYC minus an island. anyway mini rant how everyone hates my borough and thinks i'm rich cuz i live there done. onto the game. I expect Brooklyn, Queens, Manahttan to be the only three boroughs in there since they can easily be used to have the GTA feel and the Salvic population which i believe the main char is aprt of. The bronx can too, but Staten island is more known for it's Italian population so unless theres a mafia it'll be elft out :P
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
the game is in Liberty City
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
Imagine if they added you in the game.
I just searched for a normal New York District Map and that picture showed up as a result. I don't know much about NYC as I live in Boston.
You know that they are going to add allot of extra districts. I won't be surprised if they add in New Jersey as well. GTA has a strong race theme as the game focuses on almost all the races so it is expected from them to add communities such as your place and others.

Seen the trailer yet -.- If not then I don't think Liberty City has Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Empire State and Times Square. You may wanna see the trailer before posting that.
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
I am not an idiot. I saw the trailer almost right after it was released, Moofin. Liberty City is loosely based on New York City, and it would be easy to expand it into multiple districts similar to San Andreas.
Also, look again and you'll see a sign that says "Welcome to Liberty City" and a boat that has marked "Platypus Liberty City". Plus there's "LIBERTEEN" and "Liberty Tree". Yes, it is definitely in a remake of Liberty City.
Want proof? Look at 0:29.
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
The game is not Liberty City at all (hardly think it is even a remake). If you are a crazed GTA Fan then almost all GTA's have content of previous GTA's or upcoming GTA's. For example in San Andreas, Liberty City is playable as well as referred several times.
The only thing that is giving you the hint that it is liberty city are some signs. If you look at the trailer then Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building is clearly noticeable. You see a building with the logo "GetALife". This doesn't mean that the city is Get a Life City or something. The only thing I saw was Liberteen and the boat nothing else.
Do you really think RockStar will go through all this and make us wait so long just too release another version of Liberty City. I think this time they made it according to peoples demand, a real city with real crimes etc.

Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
Only an idiot would believe that the sign "Welcome To Liberty City" is in some foreign town. Yes, the game is in Liberty City. Boston or New York would not have signs labeled "Liberty City" all over them, and a "crazed GTA fan" would know that monuments such as the ones you have mentioned have been in GTA cities before.
Liberty City is being used because of the background and story it has in the other games, that is the reason why. Though the name may just be a "skin" per se of another city such as New York (which Liberty is originally meant to portray), the name of the city is definitely Liberty. It is pure ignorance to believe otherwise with the evidence right in front of you. I find the notion of you suggesting I havn't even seen the trailer insulting, when frankly I've obviously observed it far more than you.

So I invite you to explain to me, Mr. GTA Expert, why I am wrong. I am curious to see your explanation as well, considering you have nothing comparable to the physical evidence, if not proof, attached. If you try to refute what I'm saying without anything the compare with that which I've presented, then you are obviously wishfully thinking.
Attached are all of the instances of Liberty City I could find in about 5 minutes, and I am quite sure there are more on the sides of cars and such.

trailer are out guys...
GRAND THEFT AUTO IV
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
I maybe blind but I don't see Welcome to Liberty City Just some random words then Liberty City.
Guess what, The game is not based on Liberty City at all. If you didn't know but looking at your post I believe you do. NYC is also known as Liberty City. So that maybe one reason why both of us see Liberty on most places.
I guarantee you that this is not based on Liberty City anyways. Liberty City has a completely different maps and themes which doesn't seem to appear at all in this game.
You still want proof? This is NYC AKA Liberty City.

Then you obviously havn't actually seen it in the video and are basing your assumption on crappy image compression ;)
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
The game looks great in my opinion, but im not so sure about the story line. The first thing that caught up in my mind when I saw the dude was ''Al Quada''.
Moofin stop actin smart cause: GTA VICE CITY was Miami, GTA SA was LA and now GTA IV is New York but they all where named different. Why would they use a real name now!? That would only cost them more money to buy the rights to use that name.
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
Well it certainly looks very impressive, reminded me of HL2 graphics when it was showing the buildings. I wonder what the new game play features there will be too .
As for the argument, agreeing with Kaoii, it does look like it's going to be in Liberty City.
Re: GTA IV Trailer Comming Soon!
Lol, i antecedently pressed that i have only 2 years old and now i don't have entry to page. But i saw the trailer anyway. It's really short but it's cool.

Or maybe you should go to NYC. -.-
It is also called "The Big Apple" and "Liberty City". And trust me. You see tons of signs saying liberty this and liberty that.
And if it was the Liberty City from GTA 3. Then why didn't they have any NYC land marks remade in it? Vice City and San Andreas has land marks from Miami (VC), San Francisco (SA), LA (SA) and Vegas (SA).
Seeing that they did that with those two games makes you wonder what Liberty City was really based off of? Because you actually don't see any land marks from the NYC area there at all!
While the GTA IV trailer made it clear to see many land marks of NYC as did how VC and SA did.
But you never know. No one knows except the computer geeks in Leeds, UK that are making the game. ;)
So wait until they say something about it or when the game comes out on October 16.
Also... If you ever looked at a dock you would see that 99% of the large ships don't actually have the name of the city on it. In fact they have the name of other cities on it. ;)
So with that in mind. That boat saying "Liberty City" could have easily came from Liberty City to transport things to this NYC knock off.
Like wise with the boards. Since they say Liberty it doesn't mean it's Liberty city. NYC has tons of adds there saying Liberty. Mainly since the Statue of Liberty is there and they just use the title in every bloody thing.

That's what I was hoping to see. Not pics of NYC made with nice 3d graphics.
Now I must see some gameplay.
And also... I say the name of the city is going to be New Liberty City. =P
NoPeace - out
