Re: Are there any legit console emulators out there?
Playstation 1 - epsxe
Playstation 2 - Pcsx2
Wii/Gamecube - Dolphin
More emulators and roms : Emu Paradise
Why you should emulate ? Because you can play games that you will not be able to find (no longer sold), better graphics, good save system.
For PS1 you need Dual Core + 2GB RAM + 1 GB Video
For PS2 you need Quad Core + 4GB RAM + 1 GB Video (or better)
For Wii/Gamecube somewhere between PS1 and PS2.

Even if they made an emulator, you wouldn't be able to run it on the current PC's. Emulation is a much bigger strain on your PC than running it natively. Basically what happens is that all instruction that are native to the original platform, needs to be done by different hardware, because they don't understand the instruction they need to be dissected 1 by 1 and made to work with your hardware, because of this even the easiest task can take a lot of resources to work. Depending on how hard it is to translate, this can require like 10 times or more the hardware that the original platform has.
In the end it's like if you were to build a car, and you have this manual, written in korean, which you only partially understand and you would have to explain to someone else how to build it. Obviously it would take much longer to build it while constantly making mistakes because you don't really understand the manual.

You can probably find PS2, but definitely not 360 or PS3 yet. Way too early, besides wait a while and those consoles may actually be very cheap or even free.

NDS, GBA, PS2, GBC etc.
All or most games+emu's are there. All the emulators listed are legit as far as I know.

Can't you already play 360 games on Windows 8 ?
Re: Are there any legit console emulators out there?
Of course not, hardware is definitely not powerful enough.
