Yeah because things haven't been pirated since the first copying devices were created. Even books were pirated when the first printing presses were created. Tapes? Who here didn't record music from the radio! Hell, who didn't record films onto VHS when they were shown on TV. This hasn't kill any other media, why the hell do people think it will kill the games industry? The companies are still making millions.

It is affecting it, however. For instance, sony is concentrating on blocking jailbreaks rather than bringing new features to the system.

While you can run copies on consoles, the amount pirated is directly related to how hard it is to run.
On the PC it's extremely easy to run a illegal version, on consoles it's much harder and requires you to void your warranty and stuff.

I heard this game has very high system requirements.

Anyways, who truly loves the game, will buy it.

I would be very, very, very surprised if the same department was dealing with both situations. One is based mainly on the low level hardware coding programming chip drivers etc, the other is basically software.

You could argue they are spending monetary resources on it, but that is entirely different.

In the days of the first PS one of the reasons it sold more than the N64 was you could get access to copied games. I know I was given the console chipped, and only had a few legit games (<3 FF7), and like I said it put Sony on the games console map.

It just isn't as clear cut as all copyright infringement is wrong.

I'ma check it out.
