    Question DS or PSP?

    hey guys,

the nintendo ds has just lately been released here in australia (dunno about the rest of the world)

and i was just wondering about wether u guys think it wise to keep my money and get a Sony PSP wen it gets released, or buy a Nintendo DS now.

for thoes of you who aren't as educated as the rest in this department:

    - Nintendo DS is a hendheld version of the gamecube
and it included 2 screens, one (1) of which is a touchscreen

-Sony PSP is a hendheld Sony Playstation 2, with better graphics than the Nintendo DS, and is supposed to be able to play movies

so which do u think i should get?

    thanx,

    rish

It's all a matter of personal preference and game-choice...I personally like the games that the PSP has in-line as well as its current selection. I can care less for the movies since the screen is rather small and if you're looking into getting a portable DVD player, there are countless cheaper alternatives with larger screens.

The DS has some interesting games, mainly "cutesy" type games such as Kirby. The touch-screen is a great step away from the norm and makes some games really fun to play. The DS also has some "Sims" type games like Dogz (may be the wrong name) and Plankton (again, maybe wrong name).

All things considered, there are more mainstream games on the PSP but there are more "kiddie" games on the DS...whichever is your preference...

For me, I've followed Nintendo ever since the original GameBoy...I've moved up to various GB's and finally stopped at the GBASP...I will get a DS later...heck, probably three...one for me, my wifey, and my daughter...hehehe...

Price-wise, the DS is $100 cheaper than the PSP...don't think of the PSP as being able to do more, rather, think of WHAT you will be doing with it...if you're only going to play games, find the game you want to play and which platform it goes on...then choose the system...don't jump to a system only to find that there are no games on it...

I don't know about you, but the DS just looks like a 2-screen Gameboy when it's placed next to the PSP. ;)

Btw for current PSP owners, is there a modchip for it? I don't really wanna pay too much for entertainment on the road...

Yea PSP all the way unless ur a nintendo fan boy. I consider psp a portable media device. DS is easier on the wallet but if you want internet and cool games with graphics PSP ALL THE WAY. I do have cons for it if you get it. Make sure you get a screen protecter and try buying a warrenty in a store that protects you against dead pixels. I got mine at Best Buy with a 40$ warrenty and i am secured against dead pixels. It is heavy on the wallet nearing 300$ for me with warrenty while the ds would be around 200 fully pimped out. And dont forget the memory stick for psp. It comes with a 32mb so you might want to upgrade which is even more on the budget but i have to say its worth it. I travel a bit and its my soft sleepinh toy lol. Just did a 13 hour flight to Russia and it was perfect for that time.

Actually the DS is the handheld version of the N64, unlike the PSP who can match the games the PS2 runs, the DS can't, and is limited to N64 like games and graphics that's even worse.

    I'd say get a PSP and a N64.

The DS is abysmal, But the PSP isn't that far of either, How can you play Metal Gear Solid on a screen the size of that? You need bigger screens, Only good hand held console was the Gameboy because the games on it wern't high resolution things. N64 all the way though.

Morphe2 i don't know if you have any of the handhelds but the psps screen is amazing. It has amazing quality when watching movies. I bought around 10 movies for when I am on the go and i just have to say that the psp's screen is just amazing unless you have it all scatched up, then you'll see the scratches whne u tilt it
