Re: Games don't make me feel anything anymore. Am I broken or are they?
Point blank.
Games aren't as good as they used to be.
They keep coming out with new ideas, new games... more "high-end graphics", but it's the same thing over and over again.
And once you've got the general gist of a genre in your head, it becomes repetitive.
Games are still good in a sense, just repetitive and boring.

I suggest GW2
i cant still wait anymore for it ~ 28-8-2012 the full releasing of the game

This game was amazing back in the day for the PS1 - Awesome co-op and incredibly fun VS mode, was kinda like Dota [minus RPG element]. :D
Also loved Return Fire. Who wouldn't remember this:

When I was younger, I played all sorts of games across many genres. Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, Hexen, Heretic, Terminal Velocity, Descent, Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal... when we got the internet (took a while), I played some free online games like Dragonspires, Dransik, and Runescape. Eventually I got into my first MMORPG, Lineage 2.
Nothing has ever made me feel like those games did.
In Unreal, when you break out of the prison and wander outside.. the music, the environment, the ambiance.. was FANTASTIC. Birds overhead, lens flare as you viewed past the sun, the little beepish sound the communicators made when you activated them. It was all amazing. I still listen to the music once in a while and nostalgia, hard.
Lineage 2 .. the sense of adventure, where death meant something, anyone could be a friend or foe. The lack of knowledge about the game in that everything wasn't plastered on 4000 different sites with all the info readily available. I felt a real sense of adventure... going into the swamps and seeing horrible creatures that needed to be slain.
I feel like now.. every game tries to push it to the extremes. They throw these absolutely mammoth creatures at you and it ruins it. There's almost no game that actually IMMERSES me into it anymore. I want to feel like I'm there. I want to feel a sense of danger, of exploration. I also enjoy playing with friends, so they can explore with me.
Too many games have completely immersion-breaking features. HUD's that bog down the screen, map markers to where you need to go at every instance. You get no feel for the character you're playing. It's all too easy .. I am constantly aware that I am playing a game.
I know single-player games will have a better chance of accomplishing this, but it's important to me that I play with friends. I find myself lately leading towards sandbox-oriented games as they tend to focus more on adventure rather than short-term goals (Get 1 more level, beat dungeon X, slay monster Y).
I'm not really looking for a game suggestion. More just an answer to the question .. will I ever feel this way about games again? If not, is it because I'm too old and no longer have that sense of wonder or are game devs simply not in touch with games anymore? Or both..?
Anyways, thanks for reading
I'm feeling same. Games sucks at all nowadays.
