Alright, I am seeing lots ofcrazy pointing going on here so Ill fix it right quick...
The server specs need to be matched with what you are plannign to hsot
If you are wanting to host a game like Lineage II, WoW, or those high end graphical games, you will need a good chucnk of ram, preferably 2 gigs, 1 gig will work well enough though and of course a fast upload.. I run a 640k/640k DSL line and can host upwards of 20-60 people, depending on the game I am running
If you are hosting games like CS, any half-life mods, first person shooters.. etc etc you will need a fast processor and a fast internet connection, RAM isnt nearly as important because you arent storing on the fly data in the quanitities as a large graphical game... but it is important needless, get at least 512 RAM here, so the processor speed will need to be at its highest to transmit data that is needed, and for better loading times...
For ALL servers, a fast hard drive is very wanted (SCSI if you got money, SATA if you dont) If you can, get yoru hands on 2 Western Digital Raptor drives and configure them in a RAID-0 format for a relatively cheap price, effictiveyly giving you double the processing and handling speed of data... this will increase throughput to the clients at a more readily pace then a standard IDE cable drive...
