If you are going to shell out then buy a 360 and GTA IV (its a bundle) b/c the xbox is better and cheaper and also it is the best game I've played since COD4.
A PC version of GTA IV is debatable. The processing power and graphics power required to run the standards of GTA IV would be immense. A standard laptop like mines would be unable to run this, as it simply doesn't have the power to do so. Not unless Rockstar North pull something out the hat, god knows.
The PS3 & GTA IV bundle is better. More memory, better processing power, equally great graphics of the 360, the PS3 bundle would be better.
grand Theft Auto IV sold on the first day 3.6 million copies! Very nice.
GTA has huge publicity - Direct [Commercials, etc.] and indirectly [Anti-GTA media...].
And I still don't have the bloody game --- waiting for 3rd restock -.-
Wow? Only 500 Million? dont forget that Halo 3 was an exclusive for 360, Unlike GTA is for both consoles. Still good, but I was hoping to reach the mid 700 mill
Because the game rocks. So sad that there is no PC version yet... ;[
Good job for GTAIV!
I never liked Halo3
CoD4 and GTAIV is where its at!
A half-decent gaming PC is often vastly superior to any console.
One out of eight of the Cell's cores are disabled. One of them is used for integer which is good for games, the other 6 are used for floating point which is mostly used for stuff like protein folding and rending still images in things like 3ds max. Why do you think they ported folding@home to the PS3?
Frame Buffer Bandwidth
-Xbox 360 - 256.0 GB/sec (dedicated for frame buffer rendering)
-PS3 - 22.4 GB/sec (shared with other graphics data: textures and vertices)
-PS3 - 12.4 GB/sec (with 10.0 GB/sec subtracted for textures and vertices)
-PS3 - 10.0 GB/sec (with 12.4 GB/sec subtracted for textures and vertices)
That 22GB/s is barely enough for 24bit colours with 8bit transparency, let alone antialiasing, textures, aniostropic etc.
It is widely known that the PS3 has an inferior GPU to the 360.
Combine all of the above and I think we know which is the better console, yes I probably sound like a raving fanboy, but I did my research. I do not want to dish out all that money for a crappy console. There are other things I havn't mentioned and can't be bothered to right now.
Amazing game. It deserves amazing sales. Also, could we avoid the 360 vs PS3 argument? The difference is incredibly small. Watching 2 comparison videos, I wouldn't prefer one over the other.
It was predicted to make over $400 Million. Guess it broke that. Also, you guys have to realise that GTAIV is 17+ Mature game. Unlike Halo 3, this game can only be sold to mature people. So no kiddies could buy it.
It deserves each and every single penny it got.
Wow, they beat Halo! I wonder what they do with the money. o_O
Same,
I would love to create a game like this,
it deserves this much money its AMAZING xD
Christ!
I'm taking a job like that when I'm older =]

I live in Newcastle (Northeast of England), and on the first day they came into all stores, in that full day they were all sold out in the Northeast, well, apparently.
The GAME store I bought mines from, there was no available games on the shelves because every single game had been pre-ordered, and every time they get stock in, it's gone by the end of the week.
I have to admit, GTA IV is one of the most anticipated games of the year and it deserves every penny it makes.
I live by Fort Wayne in Indiana in USA and the walmart and the nearby city had the games for 2 weeks before they added to the shelves, i work at walmart
who wants my copy? i find it boring as hell
