I'm going to make a thread for all of this once and for all, i will write a objective view on all 3 consoles, PC's and both handhelds. I own everything except for the PS3, but i know it's pro's and con's so that should be fine.

And i'm saying that you're offtopic, so quit it.
In our house we have a ps3, 2 360s(one normal one elite) and a wii. I think all the consoles were worth it, and also to the fact that you can buy a 360 cheaper than a ps3, if you want a 360 that can do what the ps3 can, like connect to wireless internet play hd dvds etc, the costs would prolly put the 360 up to more expensive.
i agree the ps3 is good but:
-it is still same if u dont play on hd television
-if u have like broken things it will cost you a fortune
-if u have ps3 and hd tv, and u want to play ps2 games really the graphics are superbad.
but except that all its a magnific console
What's with people complaining about its size? o.O
It's not a freaking handbag.
It isn't meant to be portable.
It's a home console.
Personally, I prefer the PS3 simply because of it's online capabilities.
I think people are getting too involved in the whole console war era. That era is gone. People buy what they like. Don't be an ass and buy something because other people are. Stop being sheep and think independently for once.
You prefer the PS3 over what? Couldn't be over the 360 as the capabilities on the 360 are far superior, ofcourse you have to pay for it, but the capabilities are still bigger.
Ps3 FTW.
Maybe it's just because I've never had an xbox and actually prefered there games. Halo< < WTF ? Lame, sorry, but im not into non realistic games.
ps3 is definetely worth it's price. free wifi, FTW free online, FTW ps3 HOME, FTW
cmon' look at Ps3 home that is coming to playstation in the next few months, that will run xbox live.
i guarantee ill have more fun on home talking to others and making my house then i would playing halo or something.
ps3 ftw.
Well that's a matter of preference.
I don't care much about Halo 3 either (i got it for free because a site messed up bigtime), but i don't care for Home either, yes the PS3 has WIFI, but there is no way in hell i would ever game wireless, just adds lag. Online being free is a advantage, but so is the capabilities with Xbox Live. Personally on the online part i would say the PS3 has the advantage when you just play every once in a while, but Xbox Live Gold wins when you are a hardcore online player.
The PS3 has still a lot of catching up to do. 360 has clearly more games that attract people to buy the console than PS3. They've got a few exclusives like Uncharted or HeavenlySword but those few games aren't going to increase the PS3 sales drastically. We might see an increase of those sales in 2008 if games like MGS4 or FF13 will be released but they still need more exclusives. BluRay might be an advantage but how many people do you know that have a HD TV?! I almost know noone. So there goes that. I regret my impatientness....that I've purchased it on the release date. My assumption is that the buying interest will increase in Spring 2008...
2007 = not worth
2008 = worth
(Sorry for writing a lil tale >.<)
I know plenty of people with a HDTV. It really depends on the country and/or area.
The 360 has more games yes, but the PS3 will have enough games in the next 6 months to please pretty much every gamer. The PS3 right now has a nice collection already, most of them aren't exclusives like Assassin's Creed or CoD4, but they're still amazing games, so if you don't have anything else yet, then the PS3 will have enough to offer.
OpenGL. I don't know if it's on the disk or not. It was spoused to be on it but haven't tried.
Yeah it is. The Cell processor is a FP machine.
8 PS3s can simulate 200 nodes of a super computer.
Yeah... $400 gets you a great dedicated DL box. Just upgrade the HDD and you are in business. :icon6:
Not probably, it will...
HDDVD player is $130 and the WiFi adapter is $100. So add $230 to the total of what ever system you are getting.
Then you'll need to factor in the difference of HDD size.
Though the x360 does come with HD cables unlike the PS3.
1) The PS3 does look better then the older consoles in SD.
2) What are you talking about? What broken things?
3) No the are not. The PS3 upscales PS2 games to HD res. That means they look better on the PS3.
Actually that era is now. Especially when both the PS3 and x360 offers most of the same games.
Before the console with the games you like is what caused you to pick it. Now the games you like are on both consoles.
Depends on what he means by capabilities. Online gaming the x360 is better but over all the PS3 is better. Why? PSP to PS3 support. Now that what makes it win. Being able to use the PS3 as a remote media server for your PSP is a great thing. As long as you have a WiFi connection on your PSP you can remote access videos, music, pictures, and some games.
MGS4, FFXIII, and also GT5 will sell the PS3 in 2008. Each one will easily push 1-2 million console sales.
And for HDTV, it's all depends on where you are at. In Japan and South Korea it's the norm. Over here in the sates, if you buy a new TV it's an HDTV because they make more since. (Smaller, better picture, and a not that much more) But over in Europe it's another story.
Basically ATSC and ISDB territories have the HD craze while the DVB territories don't. Why? It's simply because of the cost. DVB (HD version) costs more to implement and that's why it isn't taking off.
That's true there. If you don't already have the x360, then the PS3 is very nice looking. Simply because most of the new games are on both systems and there isn't much of exclusives on either to really drive the choice. (Sure x360 has Halo and Gears of War but the PS3 has equal number of good exclusives that are out now and to come).
The x360 doesn't have much for exclusives for the next 6 months while the PS3 does. So next summer I can really see both systems offering the same number of good games.
NoPeace - out
It's not expensive. The amount of research that went into the console makes it worth the money you have to pay. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages you've posted.
I got the PS3 for Christmas aswell and now I've got one and played it for hours, I think the PS3 outdoes the 360. And now I have to say, it's more than value for your money ;) Despite the fact it takes up a fair bit of space but Im not complaining ^_^
