A quick run down of the races:
Human: For huge armies for more income per minute.
Dwarves: Basicly the same, slightly less income, but more defense. The arguments would be that 1 offers more defense, but the other has a higher income and thus you can buy more defense or other stats.
Elves: Spy bonus, mostly useless, the advantage is very little. Also less casualties, but Undead is better for that.
Orcs: Attack bonus and defense bonus, best for mid to small armies that is aimed at attacking rather then saving up money from your gold per turn.

If you want to go large but still focus on attack (and thus attack even bigger targets), then due to the low defense Undead is quite good so that you won't loose as many soldiers.
Btw you can change your race a few times, so don't worry about picking the wrong one.

restarted this morning, on 600 gold income per turn and 40 soldiers a day.
sold my defensive soldier weapons to buy attack equipment / take recruitment up and smashed as many wolf conquests as I could.

got 1364 exp, gonna save it till i have 2400 and get 1600 income per turn from mining
For those who want to click in the beginning (or later aswell) to get your soldier count up fast, this recruiter will help a lot, it basicly preloads the next 100 images and it also shows you not just the one you need to click, but also the next 2, so that you can go through extra fast.

You will need firefox to run it, it is imo very much worth it, as too how much everyone wants to click is upto them, but especially in the beginning is it quite nice to have a good income.
The recruiter can be started from the recruiting page at the right side.

I'm doing quite decent, just got hit twice for 2x 350k, gonna take a while before I got my def and sentry high enough to survive the night. :P
Yea same. Im at 1k def and im trying to raise my attack to 10mil first. Then ima go get spy. AFTER that then def and sentry.
