Lineage 1 by far. I played L2 for free on many private servers and didn't like it nearly as much as L1 which I had to pay for.
lineage 2 is better...but actually i don´t like neither of them much

It really depends on what you're looking for in a MMORPG.
Lineage 1 is by far the better gameplay, by this i mean, you don't have to run everywhere, the gameplay is quicker in all ways. Not only that, theres alot more skill involved (as far as reflexes and timing go) in Lineage 1 than in Lineage 2. Also if you're looking for a interesting storyline, Lineage 1 is also the best way to go (and if you're not interested in the story line, you're not gonna be forced to do stupid quests because you're out of money).
Well all Lineage 2 really has going for it is the graphics, in Lineage 1 you're not gonna see your charecters equip the different items you're gonna get (except item Types, theres a diff animation for lets say a 1handed sword and a 2 handed sword and a dagger, also axe and spear etc). If you're looking for eye candy and you really either don't know what you want as far as gameplay or dont care about gameplay (i can't imagine that people do not care about gameplay, but rather dont experience as many games so they dont know what they're missing).
I can tell you from a personal perspective, Lineage 2 was one of the later MMORPGs that i've played and all together i might have spent a month playing it. Lineage 1 was my 3rd MMORPG and i've played it for 7 years (with the occasional "im quitting" break for a month here and there).
In my opinion, Lineage 1 is like a bad looking food that tastes amazing, Lineage 2 is like a really good cake with shit for filling.
