Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
Shit gets real, problem is that things arent the same in the different countries, there are places where a constant, stable internet connection is pretty expensive. Also same goes for the games, here people tend to go for piracy all the time, jailbrake this and that, doing whatever they can to avoid buying the original product, which is kinda sad.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
This reminds me of Diablo 3.
I am glad I don't own any consoles.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
Look's like Xbox 360's the last Microsoft console I get.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
To be honest, if they do stop pre-owned games it will cause a big impact on gamers as most people like to trade in unused games to get a new game to complete then do the same process.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
Just Sucks... if this is true. :\

PC has been doing this for years...I mean it's easy to crack...but they still try.

I don't know about either, on 1 hand surely they can't be that stupid to actually remove offline play from it's completely library of games, on the other hand it's not like they don't have a track record of stupid mistakes.
I honestly don't know, 404 mentioned Diablo 3, now nobody thought they were stupid enough to make it online only (not to mention there dozens of other stupid mistakes), but they did it anyway.
In the end companies are about profit, if they think they will increase their profits this way, then they will. It's why I have so much hatred for large companies, only money counts.

The new Playstation is doing it too, Or so ive heard.
And, The Constant Connection sounds like massive bullshit. What if youve not got wireless, And youve got a ADSL modem? I wouldnt want to be doing a cable from my lounge room - my spare room for instance.

In all fairness, how many people don't have wireless in their house, doesn't have the money to buy a wireless router or is willing to get a cable to their Xbox? That number is practically 0.
My main concern would be that requiring connection at all time, would be a major issue if your internet is not stable, which is quite common. So while I would get a Steam (or just Valve?) system where games stop to work after a certain amount of time disconnected from the internet. So while you would not need internet constantly, you would have to connect every once in a while to verify that you are the owner and that it's not used on multiple systems.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
This is why PC is overpowering consoles, imo. Consoles are slowly dying, and PC will rise above all. (Ha, not like it doesn't already..)
Anyway, I hear the game is going to be an installation, and not run from the disc.
Think of it like this.
Buy game >Put it in console >Play the game while it installs >Install finishes >You run game from the install from that point forward.
I don't think it's been confirmed, but yeah. If this IS the case, I imagine the game is going to be like an activation key - one use only.
Therefore, on the topic of this thread, preventing secondhand games.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
Buying consoles nowadays is basically buying a computer that is for sure able to run all of the games you play. Since computers are getting better and better, they've reached the point where some have computers better than most consoles out there. However, this doesn't mean everyone has a pimped out computer. Some people like leaving the gaming on the console, and the Facebooking on the computer.
