Like Chris said, with a console you know you can play any game the coming 6-7 years, no PC can give you that, especially not at that price.
While my PC is definitely more powerful then the 360, my PC is 'only' 3,5 years old and was about 1000 euro's, yet FarCry 3 looks better on the 360. Considering a lot of people also don't like PC's in their livingroom, this makes an console very attractive.

Tbh it's always been the case that the only real advantage a console has over a PC is the cost, which is mainly because they don't profit on it (and for most consoles, a pretty large loss) as the profit comes from the content. Same principle for the Nexus 7, and Kindle, and most other hardware which is sold by the company who supplies the content. The components within the console tend to be similar (if not the same as) computer components, though not having a heavy OS does help performance.

The console might be cheaper than PC, but don't forget. you have to buy games for xBox that cost 80$+ EACH. you buy 10 games, = 800$. Now, you might want to reconsider your point, that console is cheaper than PC and runs better. PC pays for itself in the long run. Download games != pay for games. :) I'd rather pay for new GPU, than buy games lol, how sad.
Re: New Xbox requires constant connection, blocks second-hand games?
You really can't compare downloading games to buying games. That's like using hacked Xboxes as a strongpoint to consoles.
Also, you guys do realize that Microsoft is already doing this system with their "On Demand" games. You buy the game, download it, and you literally can never lose it. It's always linked to your account for your downloading. It gets rid of the hassle of running down to the store as well. I've never been big on trading/selling games, so I never had a problem with this.

Think of it like this.
Buy game >Put it in console >Play the game while it installs >Install finishes >You run game from the install from that point forward.
I don't think it's been confirmed, but yeah. If this IS the case, I imagine the game is going to be like an activation key - one use only.
Therefore, on the topic of this thread, preventing secondhand games.

Then you phone Microsoft and they will ask for as much information needed to recover the account.

80 bucks for a game? Right... where the hell you been buying games? Because the regular price is 60 on release and you can get them under 50 if you look around.

Well, at least the PS4 has been confirmed to allow secondhand games.
